Re: Programming leads

Postby Rolf,Meier » 10 Apr 2018, 20:21

Hello woodygb,

I've read the whole report so far. I need a cable for my VR2 controller. If I take this right out of the drawing I need a USB cable with FT232RL chip then a 47KOhm resistor and a diode and the XLR 3 pin connector.

On XLR plug:
pin 3 to RXD
Pin 3 to 47KOhm to 3,3V or 5V
pin 3 to diode to TXD
pin 2 to ground

On 4 Pin Molex Plug

Pin 1 Ground
pin 3 TX
pin 4 RX

Since my VR2 controller has no Molex connector. Do I have to use XLR plugs?
I also read that you do not send any software. is okay too. but maybe you can write me yes what software it is then I can search for myself.

So far I have found PGDT Rnet Programmer and PG Drivers Technology - Mobility Service PC Programmer.

If you prefer to make the cables yourself, I would buy one too

MFG Rolf

Hi Rolf,

You will need the 3 pin XLR for the VR2 and the MOBILITY Software but NOT the SERVICE Version & not R-net.

The end of this thread has a better pic.

Dear woodygb,

can you also make programming leads for DX2 systems please? One end can be a serial port (as I have a serial port on a win7 prof machine) or an usb port whichever is easier.

What is the price please?

1 SKS Swiss VIVA (spare, as only NF22 size battery)
2 Progeo YOGA (for traveling)

You need an orange gadget called a DWIZ too. And a lead with no components that you could make yourself with a serial/usb cable. See PM.

I can supply the various interfaces.

Top right is a HOMEBREW "DWIZ-ADAPT" based on a electronic sketch supplied by Anubis... the other... top left is the Rhino 2 adapter..

NOTE:- You WILL need the modified Wizard 5 software .

Hi Michael,

Whilst I can supply a lead for the OLD Pilot , the software that is available will not program it.....the software will simply say "Pilot" on the very bottom line of the screen but gives no programming options.

Personally I would swap it out for a later VSi.

Cheers Woody

He sold me mine.

Watch the vid of it in action while doing a quick vid yesterday.

I actually got 3. Only one fitted so far, but will get to it soon. Works like a charm. Cant manage without now as its just easy and seamless.

Laptop on bed in bedroom monitoring, and controlling. Powerchair (salsa) in the kitchen. Typical example of BT as I use it regularly testing batts or charging spare backup chairs etc. As here.

I can supply a board programmed to suit with the correct diode and some leads ... NOTE :- It's not plug and play so you will need to fit it internally / externally to the PL8.

When I do the next one, I will do a set of pics and instructions. But really, its easy. And kind of self explanitory.

The low drop diode, is essential though. The simple signal diode works only if you dont charge at high power.
A couple of simple filter caps, may or may not be needed. I fitted them anyway. And its a bomb proof setup. Just works.

Once you do it, messing about having to plug it into a computer and being limited to length of USB wire etc is all a pain and not needed. You cant go back!

Ok i will be on the look out for your Pics and step by step - Will purchase from Woody and follow your instructions - if all goes well - i will do my others also - i run a few Pl8s at a time during the summer high usage and have wires all over the place - it works - but would be nice without that one wire also

now this can also be used with the Cable down the line if needed once its done wireless ?

Yes. The way mine are done leaves a 3 pin connector hanging out of the rear, plugged into the same place the FUIM3 normally fits. So you just unplug that, and connect the FUIM3 instead.

But I dont think you will ever need do that. Maybe only for secure firmware updates. I would probably risk the BT though...

Warning. Not sure that the last 2 you programmed are working. Very fast test yesterday. The name change may make them not work... Spaces? More than 8 letters? Or it may have been something else. Will test them again soon.
