Speed on Puma 40

Postby js1971 » 12 Jan 2018, 22:58

Hi all - my Puma 40 has finally arrived - and for £700 off eBay to say im over the moon is an under statement!

I cant however work out if it is the 4 or 6 mph version as it only has 1 profile set up and Im too scared to try it outside!

I took one of the back covers off where the fuses are and there was a sticker saying R NET 120A, so it sounds like its the better controller but I doubt that has anything to do with the speed - it has tilt in space, height, and adjustable leg rests, and manual back. It does have the lights and indicators on also.

Any thoughts welcome!

If you sure is R-NET you need R-NET Programmer and dongle cables to change the settings and to make other profile, speed etc. Buy from here: http://powersoccershop.com/pcprogrammer.aspx

Yes im happy with the software and have the OEM programmer on order from the US, my question is more fundamental as in how do I know whether it is a 4 or 6mph, or is it all purely down to programming?

One way you can find out is - if you have or when you receive the programmer - you can check it and see what speed it shows - usually the chair will be set for Max speed - if the chair does 6 or 8 mph - it will show it - now if it has rnet 120 - its a good chance is the higher speeds - they usually require a 120 for the faster motors etc, -

and or drive it out side and look at the JS - it will or should you the speed while riding -

They dont generally waste money on the 120A r-net on a 4mph chair. And lights are a legal requirement on 6 or 8 mph. So since its got lights it is either 6 or 8.

They normally put a little sticker on the brake end of the motor with its speed. Otherwise the rpm will be marked on so can work out from that.

On further investigation (getting the kids to lay on the floor and look) it had a sticker on saying 6kph so theres my answer - I think it has the better controller due to the number of switching it has (till, height, left and right leg adjustment) which is a shame. Although when I quickly had a go I was quite able to keep up with my wife walking and run her over so for a first chair that will do for me (so far). Thanks all for your help.

Just wait for the programmer to turn up now and have some fun getting rid of the delay.

Very unusual to have 120A controller, and lights if its really 4 mph. Send me your programming file when you can so I can take a look. It might just still be possible that it can be turned up.

Not on a puma 40. If you had that many electrics then it was standard. Otherwise vr2 was specced.
