Hyperion EOF 1420 INET 3 balance cable wiring diagram

Postby funkykeyboard » 21 Jun 2020, 15:50

The short question is this. Where can I get the information to create a wiring diagram from the Hyperion EOF 1420 INET 3 that has 2x8 pin sockets to the 8 cells of my battery for balancing? (Anderson and D sub setup)
https://images.app.goo.gl/foGRw9SDBm8F8Gxm9

The user manual doesn't seem very helpful for 8 cells.

So I have a complete wiring setup all the way through to the terminals on the batteries. HOWEVER I have no idea whether they are wired correct so I need to check them 1st.

I have one cable from the charger A B socket, to Anderson and D sub male. And then the cable that fits to the previous one and goes from an Anderson and D sub female to the battery terminals.

Any advice appreciated, Tremulous Tetra. :-)

This is the cable I had wired to run from the Hyperionto the cells on the Lifestand. You can see that the black cable, negative, connected together together between the 2 plugs. Obviously there is the 2 positive cables. But then 12 cables for 7 terminals for balancing. Image

Or 7 to the first one (a) and 1 to the other one (b).
All can be routed through one D connector on the chair. Keep all balance wires short, or less short and a bit fatter that the short ones...
now I just need to figure out how to do this

The PL8 has 9 wires, so for the Hyperion you would need to join the wires between pin 8 on connector A and pin 1 on connector B, then have 2 wires from connector B for a total of 9 balance wires.

so just doublechecking on myself making sure that I haven't misinterpreted anybody :-)

This is how you wire an 8 cell battery to a Hyperion dual connection charger?

Nope, you only need 9 connections, you have 10 and that's wrong. Try and think how this is wired, it's quite simple.

Just dug out my old Hyperion balance loom, I've got 10 wires!
But the red in port B goes next to the blue wire, not right at the end
I never found connecting up the Hyperion to be easy, my trials and tribulations will still be on this site somewhere, it took me ages to get it right with lots of help from Burgerman and Woody as I recall

My LiFePO4 pack is 8S. At the pack it requires 9 balance wires. In order to mate up to the dual outputs on the Hyperion 1420i
I made the center balance wire into a Y lead.
If you counted at the Hyperion, you'd find 10 balance leads. The "last" balance lead on plug A is the "first" lead on plug B.

Yes, you have 10 wires but I count the ones you join together on connector A pin 8/connector B pin 1 as one wire. So in theory you have 9 wires like the PL8! If I'm making sense! :)

yes you are making perfect sense, thank you very much. Thanks for going to so much trouble for me.

I would never have guessed that that last red positive cable would have gone on the 2nd pin on connector socket B.
