Postby wheelchairer » 07 Oct 2023, 21:35

What are those bolts on the BM with a loop with like a ball bearing with a hole in the middle, used on the mountain struts on the motor, the footplate, and the front seat mounting please? So I can order some new ones.

That doesent happen to mine. Rust I mean. Because I smeared them with grease when building the chair and where low down I used stainless ones. Like bearings and bolts. I dont do rust.

I recently pulled every bolt out of my salsa powerchair and greased every last ones threads including the heads. And wheel axles etc. Winter is comming. Oily or greasy metal does not rust. And everything remains easy to undo at a later date. It really takes just 25 mins with a cordless wrench. It just wizzes them out and back in, in a couple of secs each.

You can also change them for eye bolts in stainless quite cheaply if they are in a position where here is no movement required and everything is lined up at 90 degrees.

If its a copy of my chair all over the place. I had about 70 of them sat in a box from many years ago! All new unused. So I used them.

There are EIGHT in this picture alone: https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... hair-8.jpg
https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... hair-9.jpg

And there are EIGHT on the rear, you can see only 3 or 4 here https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... hair-5.jpg

Heres TWO: https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... E_4112.JPG
Heres TEN more: https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... hair-5.jpg

They allow for misalignment, length adjustment, and are super strong. Makes building stuff that is quality at home trivial. You just need a few of these rose joints and an M8 tap or drill. That footrest is totally solid. Like you can stand on it and it doesent move more than 2mm.

Rose joint, spherical joint, rod end, whatever you call them its the same thing.

Theres 18 of them on this chair https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/BM3-co ... -small.jpg
Not all visible of course.
There are male and female ones.

All M8 as are most of the bolts on modern chairs. Some M6, a couple of M4s on the swingaways etc. So 3 allen keys and 3 spanners (wrench?) basically covers the whole chair.

OR JUST CLICK ON:
