rnet cjsm1 Replacement glass screen

Postby Gregrb » 21 Feb 2024, 21:55

I'm sure I've seen a post on this before. I need either rnet cjsm1 Replacement glass screen, or a screen to fit over current one as has a small crack a carer made and want to protect it from getting worse / or maybe replace it.

The only place you will likely get one is PG themselves. And they will not want to sell it. They may take yours in for a repair though. But eBay for a replacement may be easier/cheaper?

The plastic on the cjsm has a thing for cracking. I think sooner or later they all do.
Look at this sold one.

But the casing is broke too.

I have seen a bunch of these. The problems isnt that they just "break" for no reason but that they are broken. Even if the casing doesent break it still flexes enough to break the more brittle screen. How? Easy. Stupid stock hovercraft style programming. You cannot hit a doorway without smashing the joystick or arm into the frame. ALL stock chairs, every brand, are ALL set up to be like this for some reason that absolutely baffles me. Almost every chair (with the exception of most front drive) can be configured without all the stupidity quite easily. If you know exactly what to change and why. 4 settings. And adjust 2 others to taste. It takes under 2 mins. 99% of all powerchairs in common use are programmed this way for 2 decades. Its rediculous.

I have NEVER touched any of my joysticks on a doorframe or anything else unless I CHOSE to do so since 98.
Ever since I got pissed off with the useless control and fought PG drives to buy an OEM programmer. And then fixed it! None of mine joysticks or arms have a mark on them after 25 years of use. At least not from that!

Some kind of plastic. But its hard so that it doesent scratch easily. That of course means its also brittle... Made of the same stuff the CJSM2 one is. Although that one is a fair bit bigger. But you dont see many broken/cracked ones s its in a tougher metal shelled cast alloy housing.

In that case it is only necessary to look for a similar plastic sheet and cut out a piece.
Polypropylene or others.
The cutting can be with laser or a segueta.
It's probably the cheapest option.

I like to recycle and reuse.

If the dimensions allow, the transparent part could do.

I would use something harder. And slightly thicker. Or it will soon scratch up.

You can use something thicker if there is enough space...
