BM, In the instructions , 1 picture shows the negative wire should be soldered to the left side of the J19 connector, and in the other picture it shows it soldered to the right side of the J19. Which is right or dose it make a difference?.... Thanks

All one bit of metal. Any negative or "ground" is all the same thing. Theres lots of places it can be connected.

BM or anyone, I did the Bluetooth install , all good except I can't get it to talk to the computer. I have a red flashing light. I did the upgrade on the Hyperion to 5_5 bin, it installed 100% before I installed the blue tooth device. Didn't work . I tried to re- install 5_5 agin and it gives a error message at 99% " Found not target device ". Still nave flashing red light on Bluetooth. Now I don't know what firmware is installed in the Hyperion if any. I thought my Windows 7 Computer would see the new Bluetooth device. I think the problem is the Bluetooth not talking to the Hyperion. How do you check the firmware version in the Hyperion?

Turn it on by switching on the power supply, while holding down the mode or enter button. Cant ever remember which. It will tell you the version and ask if you want to do a factory reset. Which you do.

Then you need to uninstall any old version of the software suite.

Then reinstall the version I gave you.

Then power up everything, and make a NEW shortcut adding a BT in its parameters. Only use this shortcut to start the program.

In the taskbar there will in windows 7 be a blue icon - if so click it and choose add device. If not then you need to do the same add bluetooth device in the control panel. Or devices and printers.

When it asks add without a password. It will ad TWO com ports in Device manager. Right click and disable the one with the highest port number.

Now, you restart the hyperion program.

When you restart the hyperion software it will sooner or later ask for a pasword. Only then use 1234, 1111, or whatever came with your BT card. Make sure the hyperion is close to the PC to begin with. Then the PC and charger are forever paired.

(Added. The USB CABLE will not work unless the board is unplugged.) Dont flash unless you use the USB cable! You may permenantly kill the charger.

Once all sorted it just finds it and works automatically, and led stops flashing as soon as you start the hyperion software. It restarts if it goes out of range, or when you stop the software.

That all sounds very complicated. But its actually dead simple if you have done it once or twice.
Just set up 2 more chargers on my laptop in as many minutes.

Then its good to go. The problem is the PC settings.

DONT reflash! Especially with the board still connected. It will fail, but MAY stop the charger working for good.

You have to ADD IT. Then it will. In control panel, devices and printers, etc... Make visible, accept new connections, -- have a look at the settings. But disable (dont delete) the extra port in device manager, it will also add.

It will add say com port 11 and 12. Disable 12. (the one not shown in devices)

And you then have to start the program for it to read the charger and want to pair, and ask for a password.

Bluetooth is a network. It will not just keep automatically pairing with every bluetooth device. Imagine that at an airport!

add device, will find your BT module. Add without password. You get 3 options.

Do you have a cable connected?

If so remove!

Follow other instructions from control panel/devices and printers/etc. Should find the thing to pair with, if your BT settings are correct.

Reboot PC and CHARGER to be sure...
Uninstall any devices that are incorrect, or false com ports.

Then it should find a BT device. Double figure BT ports seem to work more reliably. So rename to 10 or 12 or something once found?

So its either working and you figured it out, or you gave up, or you smashed it all up with a hammer, or fused all the power and cannot communicate!

BM,Well it is not fixed as I did not get a chance to try all the info you sent yet, I am not good at computer stuff, I think my first problem starts here,,,"C:\Program Files (x86)\Hyperion\Hyperion EOS Control Data Suite\HyperionSuite.exe" BT. I did get to Device Manager but did not see Ports in the list. I am about 8 hours behind your time, but I will try like hell to get this going and get back. Thanks so much for the help.

Its actually very easy if you can work a computer! But I am sure you will figure it out.

New shortcut, edit the target line as shown, with a space after and then: BT

But it will add the serial ports after finding the new device first and then disable the higher serial port...
And windows will want a password id (1234) when the hyperion program is opened - just the first time.

Ok, Got the short BT thing done, I think. But now think this laptop dosent have Bluetooth. How do I check ?

Obviously its going to have trouble finding it if the PC doesent have bluetooth...
Check in device manager.

Buy a cheap bluetooth dongle, ebay 2 uk pounds!

Some of these work better and find the hyperion easily. Some not so good. Get a couple of different ones. I have one in my PC. Range not great, get one that claims 100 meters.

Do you have other wireless? If not, check your machine for a hardware switch to turn it on... My Lenovo Thinkpad has a switch on the front edge that turns wireless on and off, which works on both WiFi and bluetooth... There is a little antenna icon on the front edge of the box that lights up if wireless is on.

Getting there slowly, I have Bluetooth connection with charger, solid red light, after selecting my device. Start Hyperion EOS Suite , opens first screen , click continue, open the EOS Suit and the red light starts flashing and looses the bluetooth connection.

Thats strange.

You should always have a flashing light, UNTIL you start the program.

Then it should lock.

I have no idea how it could be the other way around!
Did you disable the extra port?
What do you see in device manager?



Another option. You COULD have the snd/rcv wrong way around? But I doubt it.

Bm, Turn on, Red flashing light, Start EOS Suite, First yellow screen comes on light flashing, click continue, Hyperion Logo screen, slowly , then solid light. but flashes, when the EOS Suite finally opens. Very slow to open.

OK, It is with the bluetooth. After the EOS Suite fully opens and red light flashes, EOS Suit opens, flashing light, I go to the Bluetooth icon and select the device to connect, it connects, Red Light solid. So it works, but how can I make it so I don't have to make the Bluetooth connect each time I open EOS.

If you have all the right stuff set in bluetooth (automatically connect is one option!) it will just do so every time you start the hyperion program.

You need to go to go to bluetooth icon in task bar, and choose "settings"...

You HAVE to DISABLE not delete the unused extra port in task manager.

My problem now is that I can't change the Blutooth settings. I can't get it to open up to change the settings. I did see that screen once and the top box was not checked off. But can't get back to it. I hate this windows stuff, I am a Mac User.

And as long as you disabled the other com port, in device manager, it will always find it, and load and stop flashing as soon as you open the hyperion program. Working like clockwork here on 2 PCs and 3 chargers. All automatic and foolproof for a couple of months. Bluetooth is only plug and play when you set it correctly, or it would try to connect to everyones phones, laptops, etc all the time...
