HI about the lithium conversion and Airplane, what do you experience?

Gel is knowed to be safe so no probleme to go into airplains.

lithium they dont like that already , if on top of it it is a diy battery wooo i wouldnt be surprised that they dont let us aboard or ask for the battery to be certified by a specialised shop.

Plus if it is a 230Ah battery, maybe it is to many Watthours beyond their limits.?

No idea they keep changing the rules. But LiFePO4 does not burn even if overcharged or shorted ut or punctured. It will only burn if heated severely in some external fire. Lead/Gel batteries on the other hand give off hydrogen and oxygen which is explosive in a confined space if shorted or overcharged or old and faulty. So this type of lithium is actually safer than lead. Airlines dont understand this and so all get tarred with the same brush...


Its definitely too many watt hours for a REMOVABLE battery. But I think a non removable one has no limit. But I dont fly so cant tell you what they will do. Dont tell them.

Burgerman is correct - there is no size limit for NON REMOVABLE lithium batteries. Last year we traveled Florence to Paris to Seattle to Orlando to New York to Amsterdam with 205 AHr LiFePO4. We had LOTS of problems (lost reservations to start with), but non regarding the batteries.

good to know , if anyone had problems concerning airports and their LIFEPO4 Diy please share it so we are more aware of the risks and or ways to pass through the system inspections.

hum i think i begin to understand that pl8 v2 needs a power supply to work.

If i have to use temporarly gel batteries mk 73Ah with a pl8 plus a power supply, how noisy will that be ?

i read somewhere not to charge mk gel to more than 15 pourcent of total capacity to avoid gamification(a word like this)
how long would it take to charge the chair and would both psu fan and plu8 fan stop automatically?
maybe at a low Amps the fans dont have to run?


Any good bang for buck psu not too noisy to recommend?

You can swap all parts. Remember only fools and horses? Trigger was asked how long a brush lasted. He was a road sweeper. He worked as a road sweeper for 30 years. He said he still had the very same brush. When questioned further he said "well its had a lot of new handles. And about 9 new heads. But was the same brush he started with.

Bought some 130 Ah cells for a lady's Nutron RX51, replacing 22NF lead bricks.
Internal Resistance 0.28---0.30mΩ.
130Ah was recorded, and voltage difference was at the last 2,3 ah.

Put back 131Ah, and finished with nearly no dv at all. (I zoom in the last part of recharge)

LiFePO4 is cheap and high quality now. I paid £0.1279 for every Ah.

A 22NF gives a tiny amount of usable Ah. Around 25Ah until you actually grind to a halt.

So these wil bump that up to around 5X as much range as stock. Or 4x as much, but with a complete set of fully charged lead bricks left unused in reserve!

I'm looking for some 230Ah Grade A cells for saker98's chair. He's letting me keep the EVE-LF105 ones which I can use in the Groove chair I'm rebuilding if I can get them to balance correctly. What's the best website to purchase genuine Grade A cells please.

Thank you BM for your observation about our ability to use 230ah batteries. We did not think they would fit, but low and behold the EVE 230ah do fit in our Jazzy/Quantum Q6 chair. And yes FJ, I did quickly ask my hubby to upgrade to 230ah.

Luckily the EVE 105ah did not go to waste, we were able to install them in a chair our friends use that takes U1 batteries. So if anyone out there uses the little chairs that take U1 batteries, the EVE 105ah will fit. You will need to make two packs of 4 EVE’s and an extended cable to connect them. It’s a tight fit, but a great lifep04 solution for small chairs.
