Wrong again Steve.

I have one from there on back order(so has another person here).
They don't know when they will have stock.

And Revolectrix don't know when they will be selling them again. :)
It has been nearly a year since you could buy new PL8s.

I just canceled my order for a PL8 with banggood as the date now says Dec 6th.

The date seams to switch very often.

They do seem a bit scarce. Not even any used ones about.

It will be a year next month since they had PL8s for sale.

They keep saying it's because of the chinese virus, but we know that's BS.

Actually its probably a mix of things. The first being that the bulk of sales is in the northern hemisphere. And sales over winter drop to almost nothing when no flying going on. So hey run stock down to zero and dont reorder anything till spring. Dead money costs! When spring came so did the virus. Every damned thing I order is out of stock. So maybe some truth.

They didn't make any after (approx) july last year.
Then They sold all there stock + all the refurbs.
They ran out way before the virus hit.

So they either are trying to push people to the NFC type of charger, or they're going to replace it.
I can see no shortage of any electrical component coming out of china.

They wouldnt start reordering and remanufacturing befor spring. So I doubt thats the case. Its still by far the most capable of any of the chargers they sell. They sell less of them, because most people want the cheaper dumbed down ones with no PC softwre.

My cells are nearly @3.0V so I think it's time to charge them back up.

Need some help with the option in the PL8 software as I have forgot what my old PL8 settings was before it died.

I have a 2400W power supply wich is 100amp.

I want to charge them slow, not full speed as I did last time....to much heat from the wires.

So what should I put in the settings for a slow charge?

Thanks in advance.

Looking at the preset tab, it's set to 30amp...can I change that to 20amp to slow things down?

At 30amps those red/black wires are to hot for my liking.

They are silicone. They are silicone for a reason. So they can be small and not burn up or damage the insulation at higher currents. Its not a problem.

Silicone wires were used in the hobby world because our tiny helicopter and plane electric motors take much power!
The 12 guage silicone wire is often used at over 100A without problem.

Lookup 12 awg here: They say 70A. Thats actually conservative. Does it get hot? Yep! Its designed to. Thats why they use non melting silicone.

Yes Terry. You can.

I charge at lower rate even. I spread the charge across the whole night.

Hi folks , someone has posted a link to a site that can work out the most even combination of cell capacity in building battery pack.

Just recently , but lost track of it. Any clue ? cheers

You can charge slower too. But at say 20A it takes 10 full hours to charge a 200Ah pack plus balance and say half hour at CV. So maybe 12 hours to charge if heavily discharged.

So 30A cuts a third off that time. So a sensible 8 hour overnight.

And 40A cuts it in half compared to 20A. So 6 hours?

You need to remember that we are not putting a few Ah back. Like a lead chair. So charging at low amps is like charging a lead chair with a small 3 or 5A charger.

I am getting a error safety code 34 bad cell count.

WTF is that?

Loaded the wrong profile :(

3 cells in a box - you could have fitted 6 of them if not packed well - so i am happy for that - will start testing for Cap. will take a while with these huge Cells -

in my case - i had a better deal because when i found the item - it was free shipping - but after working out the deal i got 9 Cells - one for spare - it was $100 shipping - but that changed during the time i was doing it - they still kept it for my order

this will take a while to charge discharge and recharge - still charging my first one - will let it discharge overnight - and hopefully recharge tomorrow - start on Cell 2 - hoping i get at least 190ah out of it - we see

i wonder if they made these cells just a bit wider - to fill my battery tray - lets say 65mm thick instead of 55mm - and keep the rest the same

maybe room to fit more Ah in each cell - 250ah ? as you can see - i have room on the sides
