Try telling your physio/ot/assessor that a 15 mile range lead chair isnt enough, and that now your 40 mile lithium pack is too small, so you need 45Ah exta on top!

your right - 105ah isnt enough for me - i put the 30ah which should have been 45ah - to make sure the 105ah is not worked too hard :) i may make that 45ah this winter - but i am also interested in those other cells like snaker if Shirley can get them - to fit 150ah in another chair i may get this year or my other backup chair

this way - if thats not enough - then another 45ah add on - total 195ah - which has to be more than enough then :D

What cable will I need to charge the Lifepo4 individually the first time? I have the PowerLab 8 v2

i have tilt also and lift - not a problem for me but i dont usually tilt much when i am using the chair outdoors and when i get home - i change chairs - either way it shouldnt be a problem - once you hang it and strap it - it should move with the chair if you tilt etc, - what you need to make sure is the length of cable you would need going from the SB50 end to the ADD ON pack -

for my lift chair - i had to make that cable long enough so when i lift the seat all the way to the highest point - the cable is long enough for that - and it works fine also - i have it going behind the bag and inside so you dont see this cable much - only on the bottom where it connects to the chair cable - its braided black blends in

yes true it adds weight - but if you are going to do 30ah - might as well get the most out of an ADD ON - 8 more cells wont make much a difference over 16 Cells already at 30ah -

on my 646 chair - no worries about flipping over - it holds its ground and if you do wheelie - anti tippers work good -

on my other chair P222se - now thats different very light front end and it wheelies with no ADD ON at all - i have 36ah there because it was my first and used 12ah cells - that i have to avoid certain hills - i did get stuck on a hill where i was on my anti tippers only up in the front and wasnt able to get down or move -

a biker came along and lowered my front end - i turned around and went the rest backwards because i was close enough - i avoid that hill now with the P222 chair -

with the 646 i can do the hill with some wheelie at the end - and thats because i have the larger tires in the rear - if i had stock tires - it would be less to worry -

It will depend on the chair you use - how its programmed also -

Permobil M300. It has elevate, tilt and recline.

The back is cluttered.

i see - dont think that chair will tip over - have you figured out how you would hang this ADD ON back there ? i dont see any push bars etc, - be careful not to let it get in the way of any of those wires - operation of the tilt recline etc,

you will have to come up with a way to make it work nicely best you can -

I added carabiners since that pic. I'll connect a bag to them and try and reposition some cables.

Not sure that I understand the question.

The chairs battery comprises of a pair of 6 cell lead bricks, in series so you have a 12 cell battery as its connected in series to give 24V. Your lithium pack connects to the 0V and the 24V terminals.

Should I soldier and crimp the ends on the cable going to the group 24 batteries or is crimping enough?

I'm using

Crimping alone on those connectors isnt adequate.

No, there are very few larde terminals that are thick wall, and strong enough tocrimp alone. So crimp to hold them in the right position, and just solder them. And heat shrink the joint on the ring terminals.

http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/crimp-solder.htm The easy way to solder them.

THESE andersons have adequate meat in them to crimp alone. With a hydraulic crimper. https://cdn6.bigcommerce.com/s-7vr3j/pr ... 00.jpg?c=2 But only works for smaller cables.

These do not... http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/4jwAAOSwv ... -l1600.jpg

Likewise, THESE ring terminals are fine for crimping alone. http://hken.rs-online.com/largeimages/F2674108-01.jpg
But try buying some. All that areavailable are just soft copper tube type ones. Those are too soft/weak for crimping alone.

SMALL wires crimped professionally with correct tooling are fine without soldering. http://techmattmillman.s3.amazonaws.com ... rimped.jpg

you can use alligator clips if you want to just clip it on and charge or even the same 1/4 inch connectors you use on the wires and then screw them down on each cell - takes longer to unscrew etc, but its more secure at least wont move or disconnect

i have used alligator clips just to make it faster to change cells - but if using just 8 Cells - to screw them down isnt too bad and they may charge for longer times so its a good idea to be secure

i had alot of 15ah cells to charge so i used the clips to make it easier and faster -

That depends on:
a. its capacity
b. its resistance
c. its dicharge level
d. the termination current you set.
e. the charge rate you choose

If you charge a heavily discharged 100Ah cell at 1A it will take around 100.5 hours to charge.
If you charge a 50% discharged cell, at 40A it will take well under 1.5 hours.

I was referring to the "Headway 15ah LiFePO4 Cell" for the first charge.

Was told to use the A123 Non-balancing preset.

You need a preset I will post. Or one that I already modded, that expresso may have handy!

Stock presets have a few things wrong that are going to trip you up.

Rename that from .zip to .ps8 or it wont work.

Its not actually a zip. Its done so the board accepts it.
