28 degrees

Postby Burgerman » 16 Jun 2017, 21:32

And the same, up to about 30C at the weekend. (about 86f for those still in old money) Is about my comfort limit. I have taken to driving unnecessarily just to turn the air con up to 11. Yet I moan about winter!

Today will be low 30s or about 80 plus f. And humid, and no wind. I am taking myself 4 miles to the beach, in my air conditioned van to a air conditioned resturant/bar with this laptop.

To have a glass of ice with a drink in it. And an ice creme. After my anti-muslim breakfast. And to watch the beach babes! Its too hot to do anything else.

Rankine (I googled it) is an absolute temp scale in Farenheit. 0 Rankine = 0 Kelvin and [°F] = [°R] − 459.67, and multiply that by 5/9 to get Celsius. My garden is also at about 555 Rankine at the moment - hot (and muggy too).

I never heard of that before.

You need air con, and ice creme! Currently have a glass of ice cold lager and its got ice in it. Glass is out of the freezer.

Luckily, it cools down here at night, so we open all the windows and put in fans then. Then, in the morning we close the windows, lower the outside sun shades and turn on a couple room dehumidifiers. The inside of the house stays tolerable on all but the worst days of the year and even then it's only mid-late afternoon that we do wish for AC (yet, if we go outside and then back in it still feels really nice for a while).

I would have expected you to have air co there due to the higher temps, esp because of your daughter.

Unlike both Ellen and myself, Rachi likes to sweat. Two Sunday's ago, for example, she and her aid went to the beach (and if she's not at the beach, Rachi likes to sun bathe in our garden) while Ellen and I went to the top of Monte Amiata which was a good 10-15o (Celsius) cooler than here. One of Rachi's favorite sayings, when it comes time to chose her clothes for the day, is "pantaloncini e top, e estate" - short, shorts and spaghetti-strap top, it's summer! When in Michigan we had whole-house AC and a large hot-air furnace, but a typical year in Lansing saw a couple months at -20oC (and not infrequently lower) and another month or so at 30oC (and often higher). Add moisture from lake effect, and you get an idea why Siena seems (mostly) better to us. Siena has been more moderate than Lansing most years, both winter and summer, though so far this year we've been quite a bit above typical - perhaps all of 5-10 days near 0oC early morning and too many days now with 30oC and more in the afternoon.

Thought it would be hotter there. I would be bored sunbathing. Does she read or something? iPads etc dont work in sun. Right now the thermometer under my solar panels in shade reads 31C. Indoors its 28C and horrible! Outdoors is cooler feeling as theres a slight breeze. But humidity is high. I am overweight which doesn't help. Above around 27 indoors and I go mad and search out cooler places! Winter sometimes sees minus figures for a week or two. But mostly higher up. Not near the coast where I am.

Currently in shorts with a T shirt, all black (always!) and a leg bag! I dont care what people think, thats their issue! T shirt says" " I BEAT ANOREXIA" A very cool look! (Not), but it makes people laugh and I am hot.

Here is 32oC indoor, it's an ideal temperature in this time. I feel cool and comfortable. I start feeling cold at 25oC.

It's normal  Is it called "the biological adaptability"?

Currently have a glass of ice cold lager and its got ice in it.

We usually drink beer with ice. We usually drink coffee with ice too. Try it, it's good in hot days.

That looks like a workable chair for the beach, but not exactly usable in any confined space. Rachi's FWD would do well on the beach except for the heavily loaded casters that dig into soft dry sand. Still haven't gotten around to making slip-on sand skis for them.

Thats unreasonable.

42C or 107F.

Saw 48C displayed on a motorway bridge in central spain 20 years ago. But thats aided by streams of very hot trucks going up a hill. Following them on a bike nearly melted me.

Apparently not that uncommon in spain. http://new1.fjcdn.com/comments/Lt+south ... 51aa96.jpg

Thats 120f...
But I did death valley in high summer so know what hot feels like. Took a walk around furnace creek. Thats the hottest I ever remember anywhere. Feels like everything turned up to 11.

Now, 30C is hot. Paraplegia means you dont regulate temp properly. And thats about my limit. Cooler today.

I like it better when it's hot, and mostly never even turn on the AC in my van...

When I'm climbing, it gets real hot up near the roof, not to mention the working out part... My temp regulation has never been a problem that I've noticed... I sweat a lot both above and below my injury level, to the point where when I pull off my knee pads and harness my clothes are WET underneath...

Most annoying thing is that the gym makes me wear a helmet while climbing, which the AB climbers aren't required to do - argument is that I have less potential control in a fall... I could argue but it's not a battle that is a huge deal (standard practice on real rocks is that EVERYONE wears a helmet, so I'm just doing closer to the real thing..) However it makes for a lot of sweat running down onto my glasses...

Do they come in 5xl? Seriously, its no longer hot. Our 3 days of summer came and went! Now 20 degrees and heavy rain with flood warnings! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06 ... eavy-rain/

But thanks for the offer! Yes probably not meant for me! :?
