Today 19/dec/2017, I paid for my new lift/tilt/recline/power centre footrest/black/r-net 120 with advanced colour joystick powerchair! Its not very urgent, and only for occasional/intermittent usage. In the meantime I am still trying to fix a sore on my cocxcxcxcxc or however its spelled! :fencing

Cant say how much or where from unfortunately, or I would have to kill you... :shifty: But the price was very good!

Should be here about 22nd. Ish. Then wheels/tyres/programming/seat relocated and a lot of general tidying up. As usual. Like smaller footplate, replace most of the bolts with better/grease, replace sling back with something other. And lithium as long as it all works well till the spring.

YOU may love these mud guards . cheers

They'd bug me cos they've got the union jack/flag wrong (check out BM's logo for correct flag).

On a pair of these wide 8 x 3.5 inch tubeless alloy rims. I bought 4 of them, at about £10 each via Shirley.

Can someone lead me to a link to these? Are they available in 3.75 inch? Would Carlisle Turf Saver 4.80 - 8 that call for 3.75 rims be too pinched on 3.5"?

I think only 3.5. PM shirley!

Proper tubeless rims. Well made. Cheap from HK. Too pinched? A little pinched I would say.

Summary?

They fit a gyro so that front drive becomes possible (but still steers odly) and on other chairs when you attempt to steer stupidly programmed powerchair in a straight line you dont suffer the delayed action over controlled swerving about. Personally I hate driving with gyro on, and couldnt disable it fast enough. Its not required if you have normal hand function and coordination with a properly programmed chair. It just removes feel and makes things worse.

They test with some added weight... Really.

They have fold back casters on front drive...

They programmed in a load of damping so cobbles dont cause your shaken hand to change direction. Which means it steers about 3 seconds after you tell it. Real solution is proper joystick hand/finger placement and position.

They have caster locks. Those are really not new. They have been available for years. I wouldnt want them, they are not required on a properly programmed chair as it goes exactly where its told anyway...

They have programmed in some speed reduction that automatically slows the chair (which I really dont want!!!) if you are going fast and try and turn. That is possibly useful on a front drive (unstable platform) powerchair.

In other words a load of band aids to try to cure the symptoms that are actually caused by low turn acc/dec settings.

Right. Delivery on 19th jan. Ordered 20th dec. So thats errrr, :cussing almost a month! Thats slow. But to be fair it includes xmas, new year as well and the germans dont work at xmas and new year :fencing

And it a mix of parts, and black paint, so a "build for me" option or 3 too. So I will excuse them. And the price was very good!

Now I have to rebuild it and chop off all the unwanted bits, narrow its single power footplate, move the lights inboard, reconfigure arms, reprogram it, swap its skinny wheels and tyres, batteries, seating position, joystick position, seat back replace, add the IOM and RC and external charge connections and vehicle tie down bolt... And test!

If its any good I might get a spare. Or a V4.

Thoughts so far...

Centre power footplate is way too big. I see a bandsaw in its future. Then I can move the seat back.
Seat too high... I think it can be lowered though.
I got a carer to take off an arm. That arm must weigh as much as a full manual wheelchair. What the hell are they thinking? And its up high.
Control pod mount/swingaway is useless. It puts the joystick in a position that requires you to be an orangotang to use and cant be fixed so thats going in the bin.
Also the headrest mounting is a load of scaffolding, looks abysmal, and is already in the bin.
Not that I am keeping them but the 3.00 x 8 tyres are on rims that are not wide enough...
Seat too far forwards but I am going to fix that.
New type of charger. Probably equally crap. Soo find out.

Look at the joystick position! What are they on? It must go inwards by 3 to 4 inches. And higher by 1.

Nice! The motors is 10km or 13km? You have the electric seat? How much cost you 4.300-5.000£?

I chose the 6.2mph (10kph) motors as I already tested the 13kph ones on a groove years ago. They are a step too far with a fully loaded 180kg chair with all the power options. Inadequate torque, and rapid battery depletion. The 4 pole 10kph offers better range, 25% more torque approx. Esp if you need it to do steep ramps etc. Remember power tilt, power recline, power centre foortrest (as fitted to the salsa M2) and power lift and the bigger 80Ah batteries with the wider jay single post arms all add 80kg to the basic chair base!

But since I will be increasing the voltage with lithium, and have a programmer that allows me to increae the motor volts, and my 120/70 tyres etc all mean it will be nearly 12kph regardless. With no loss of torque caused by taller gearing. So the best motor choice were the 4 pole 10kph ones.

Also included r-net 120 instead of a 80 or 90 amp version or VR2. For the same torque reasons.

And the newer large colour screen joystick.
Power centre footplate
Tilt
Lift
Recline
Stronger centre post arms instead of lift up wobbly ones
Black paint because white/blue/red is just gay...
And about a dozen smaller options. For eg 6 degree seat dump at the base tilt position. As I dont like tipping forwards or flat! And I get 36 degrees tilt! And lights of course...

For what its worth you can often get these quite cheap on ebay.
EG https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/112646819511?

But...
Weedy cheaper VR2 controller
2 pole motors (suck)
wobbly lift up arms
horrid seat back (I am getting an aftermarket fancy one!)
used...
no power centre footplate so it hits every doorway indoors and you cant move the seat back and get any control.
not black :cussing

So its not worth it. Other than as a project. At least for me.

I can't come to terms with the new joystick. Just looks fugly and makes the whole chair look out of proportion.

I understand, i have too 6.2 mph on my Puma 40, and is very powerful. Is enough for me. I like the new R-NET Joystick. I wait to see how is look after you fit the new tyres.

Will be a while yet. First got to make it usable! Put the joystick in the same postcode as my hand... Move seat back but not far. Maybe 2 inches. Program that hit every doorframe crap out of it. Sort out back. Image
