You will find 4 wires... Connect all!

2 large. And 2 small for sensing voltage.

Keep the cable you have. The two thin sensor wires allows the charger to correct for the charge cable. 6mm 2 is ok for the battery to the anderson connector on the chair. With a 50 to 100A fuse. If you want to be safe. I dont bother with fuse there but I am aware!

Ok i understand now. So i put the fuse 50/100A each cable, on the cable from charger? or the cable which i put on the battery where i charge the battery?

8a is enough to charge. But the cable and the connector can do much more. For eg you can run a big 24V to 240V AC inverter when the power goes off... Or charge from a 24V truck or RV. So its best to use a fuse that goes just before the chairs cable is damaged. I charge with a 40A charge or bench power supply regularly.

Quick question, when the the new cables are connected in series, does the existing wiring remain as standard?

Do I connect the newly made up cables from the Ring Automotive RSCPR824 straight on top of what's already under the seat of the chair? As in your illustration here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5134 If I want to charge straight to the batteries rather than going through the pilot.

If you are fitting just ONE 24V Anderson or similar connector, ignore everything already on the chair. Just add your new 24V connector to the 0V and 24V battery terminals. If you cant tell by looking, then use a multimeter to show you which those 2 are.

If you are fiting the 12V and 24V setup, as on that page, then you must remove the cable connecting the two batteries together as a series pair.

Presumably I don't need the cable that runs between the neg on one batter and the pos on the other, because the original's already wired in series?

Sorry to be quite so obtuse, but why does one terminal give a reading of 0v?

Oh,and to test with a multimeter, do i just hold one prob on the terminal and the other on the frame of the chair?

NO! A chassis on a powerchair is never live. To test the voltage you put one probe on the negative of one battery and the positive on the other one which should give a reading of about 25.6v roughly.

Thank you Steve,
I realized what I'd asked once I'd submitted it, bit late then isn't it. It's all sorted now, batteries are in and charging fine.

Dont forget that to FULLY remove all sulfates back to the acid, you must charge for around 12 to 14 hours. In spite of the 'ready' light. We dont get that long overnight.

So its a battle to get a complete charge. So if you ever can, leave on charge for a day or a week whenever possible. Your batteries will last longer. Likewise, to lessen the average DOD level, if sat at a computer, or eating and wathing TV or whatever PLUG IT IN! Intermittent opportunistic charging will make your batteries last years longer.

Since I started doing that 15 years back, my lead batteries have NEVER needed to be changed. Admitedly only used occasionally now because of lithium.
