Seriously if they are not sure if its some part for a nuclear weapon or something then they WILL investigate it.
Which reminds me. This is a seriously interesting vid of 2 guys getting into a dis-used abandoned nuclear power plant 20 years after it was abandoned. Get your pop corn, 40 mins of fun. Theres still a few lights on, and the place is still connected to the grid, with about 750,000 volts supply... Hence all the buzzing. They dont get it. Lights left on for 20 years and a few still working! These guys are mad.
Considering getting one of these, but noise is a factor. Using as an XLR charger (12A max), with Odyssey PC1200s. How noisy will this be, and what things can be done to quiet it?
If you disconnect the front you need a resistor on a cable to plug in as A poster here tried no fan. I tried it too, but no failure to start, but I had it started already, and a resistor cable intended for a computer plugged in, so maybe a different scenario. From memory its using only 2 wires.
There are thick and thin fans. The rear one can be replaced with a thicker one, the front can JUST in the fancy case, but dont know about the stock case. So get 2x 80mm fans. Get low power low RPM ones. The rear can be thicker at least in the fancy case. Not sure about the original rack case. So get 2 thin ones.
The selection of 15mm fans is underwhelming. I sure wish a 25mm would fit in stock enclosure. Changing to fancy enclosure just to fit thicker fan is probably one step too far for me.
At first I didn't think it loud. I can pretty much ignore most fans, sleeping in my room means PC on 24/7 etc. But at low currents, where theres no other sounds at night it is quite loud. Put it under the bed. Dont have any leaks...
Non, but if there was anything significant it would be obvious. If they had it on. Most of the time they didn't..
The electricity, old cables, metal cabinets, and that buzzing would worry me more. Nuclear stations are generally connected to the grid by some very high voltage lines. And who knows what was actually connected. Notice the hanging orange tapes, used for danger on electricity power lines in various places.
No apparent physical damage, which is fortunate since I could see it through the holes in the box. When they said they were "processing" my package, I guess this is what they meant.
Take lots of pictures, save the box, and test contents - if damage, call the carrier ASAP and file a complaint... As I understand the rules in the US, the last carrier to handle the package is responsible for damage unless they made a note of it when they got the package from the previous carrier...
