If you care, they come with a fancy case that you transfer everything into. I did one already.

I read you PM , and will put yours in my next bin .

The modified PSU comes with copper power poles , good for 20A plus . 4mm banana plugs too.

The fency outfit is not a must , and there is quite a job to put on it. Not recommended to novice . cheers

I'm not a fans of it .

LROBBINS wrote:Arrived a few minutes ago. One month exactly from payment till arrival and only 7 days from when it was shipped - that is very fast. I am up to my eyeballs, as usual, in too many projects, so all I've done is power it up and saw that the display comes live and the (indeed noisy) fans run, then put it back in the box and on the shelf. BTW, to my eyes the stock rack mount case is not all that ugly, though I did buy the fancy case and will eventually move it over and add an Anderson.

Total price remains very, very reasonable for a 3000 Watt bench supply/charger. Do I owe you anything to cover the PayPal fee?

Thanks,
Lenny

Thats why mine has the usual Anderson connectors added. Those 4mm are not really enough for more than 20 to 25A. I can feed 40 to 50A to the PL8 Cellpro. Or to fast charge a chair, rapid charge my van, all via andersons.

To US members of forum , please be advised that this PSU's ampere will be reduced to half , when used in USA 117V.

Gnomatic may have something to share .

You may be right. But it may be that the watts are reduced by half, but at under 30V it may still do 50A.

The guy who make this kit said the amp is reduced .

Another point is the same kit can have a 120V unit , though the capacitors need replaced .

I have skimmed through the document Steve did, and the rest of the thread - but haven't done in detail, as I figured it wouldn't make a lot of sense until I have a unit in front of me...

I actually have several fixed voltage supplies for running my PL/8 and similar sorts of things, so the lower amps out due to 110V US power isn't a big concern. My primary interest is to have it as a variable CV-CC bench supply that I can use for testing things that need more juice than the supplies we have currently in the Asylum electronics shop...

Well mine is currently charging in parallel, a pair of OLDER odyssey batteries in a chair I leant someone. Its set to 40A, 14.5V, terminate at 0.3A, (its warm) and float at 13.6V and it isnt any louder than charging at 12A on the salsa. It doesent seem to get warm even charging at 40A.

You should consider the 120V25A version , if large amps were not your priority . :clap

I have 2. I can set 60V on both, and connect in series. I then have 120V 50A DC power supply! Or set 1 at 30V and one at 60, and have 90V DC. Etc.

I do this now with my other two big SM40 bench supplies. But in parallel. So if I want to charge fast, I have 80A up to 40V.

This unit can tell at anytime the C.C. / C.V. values you've set , while normal bench supply can tell C. C. only when under load / C.V. when off loaded .

Seems to work fine as a power supply even if set to 3 stage charge. As long as termination set to .2A (or .3 for a pair of batteries in parallel 12v) So I leave it that way.
