And still very cheap considering its a 3000 watt adjustable 0-60V 0-50A power supply of telecoms style electrical quality/reliablity. And it can also do 3 stage charge where YOU can choose all the correct parameters. Just to put it into perspective a basic (crappy) mobility charger that can only do one thing at one incorrect unstable voltage and a miserable 225 watts, and 8A charge, is more expensive!

Making it the most compact, high power and fully adjustable LEAD charger you will find. And Power Supply. And it can charge at a sensible 25A or greater (50A) as well as safe 12A via XLR. Its only downsides are its a little noisy for some, and that menu takes a bit of learning! But used as a correctly configured charger it will make the lead battery last about 2x as long as a obility charger at least. And MUCH longer with regular short high Amp top ups as you eat your meals or check email.

Once you have it configured, its 1 push to start.

Your info was too valuable, so I took the liberty to dig it up. Worth a read again.

Here is LROBBINS's dissertation on the shirley ZDX psu with the fancy case and quieter fans for those that haven't read it.

Quiet.

But consider this. Even if a 3000 watt power supply is 90% efficient, it has to loose 30 watts of energy! Its hard to do that without a lot of airflow.
The issue is that it is not running silent and slow when used at lower power. I suspect because it wastes a little power at low settings in order to be accurate.

LOL, it was I, in a pm on July 11, that asked Shirley if an SB50 could be added at source. But I'm sure he'll have enough to go round. :D

The two Chinese telecom giants, Huawei and ZhongXing Telecom Equipment, who makes the ZXD2400 psu.

Thanks to the Trump's administration banging on the two above, loads of surplus were dumped into Taobao. It was as cheap as a used unit.

Over stocks are absorbed fast. Brand new units are getting harder to find without paying more ¥.

Get yourselves a spare, before you find a new price tag on it. Besides, my mechanic wants me to put the extra bits of Anderson together as far as possible.

Just a warm tips.

The one marked metalic. Or the black plastic one. But it will need warming and flattening, as you will see. Thats the one I used.

Fan speed is low even at 25A output .

How about this €1.00 resistor(35Ω) on the output poles at the back , continually cooled by exhaust air.

Whether forcing a continuous drain would get rid of the fan running when in float will work depends on why the fan runs when in float. My impression is that the temperature sensor is actually taken out of the circuit after switching to float rather than it seeing high temp at the front heat sink, and if that's the case it won't work. The only way to find out will be to try it.

I don't use it as a 3-stage charger. Just to run a PL8, but fan ran high at tiny output current still.

Same question - is the fan at low current responding to temp or just switched to always on low?
