1, manual calibration of 3V
2, manual calibration of 19-60V
3, manual calibration of 1A
4, manual calibration of 9-50A
5, SAVE adjustment and leave
6, LEAVE without saving
7, Reset to factory setting
8, OVER Volt & Amp output protection ; with user adjustable criteria
9, explained below
A, 0.1 or 0.01 display of the V&A
B, EMPTY
C, Version of kit
D, reserved for examination
E, EEPRM decimal
F, EEPRM hexadecimal

Set the one in RED above to 50A (max) and 30V for PL8v2 SAFE VOLTAGE so you dont feed it 60V in error :shifty:

Instruction turned from shirley english to my english so I dont get a headache! :shh:

INSTRUCTION, MENU, OPERATION

It has quite some useful features apart from just a 0-60V / 0-50A CC/CV power supply.

Hold the encoder button 3 sec on power up will enter this mode:
http://diy.lgm3361.com/zxd2400/3/annex2/

Factory menu locked.
To enter: Press "3 seconds" during power up, and enter code "00088".

1, manual calibration of 3V
2, manual calibration of 19-60V
3, manual calibration of 1A
4, manual calibration of 9-50A
5, SAVE adjustment and leave
6, LEAVE without saving
7, Reset to factory setting (dont, not sure what this will do!)
8, OVER Volt & Amp output protection ; with user adjustable criteria (Set max Amps, 30V for PL8 for safe operation)
9, explained below***

A, 0.1 or 0.01 display of the V&A
B, EMPTY?
C, Version of kit
D, reserved for examination
E, EEPRM decimal
F, EEPRM hexadecimal

No 9*** for the HIDE/ON of the features below. 7 zeros for 7 features; ZERO on top (first digit on display) is ON, bottom is HIDE.

1, nine preset profiles allowed (Useful for setting different battery or power supply profiles)
2, lock menu (not sure what that does?)
3, auto output at power up (not sure what that does either yet?)
4, auto power up at MAIN on (not sure what that does? Again!)
5, a 3-stage charger; with adjustable residual current that trickles to float, and float voltage as well
http://diy.lgm3361.com/zxd2400/3/annex1/1/
Default settings of residual current and float volt are 30% and 93% respectively (with MAX cap at bulk charge values). Too soon for lead cyclic batteries. But can be adjusted.

6, display of present & last session Ah delivered
7, auto shut down; when output is lower than user prescribed amps.

Operation tips:
On "short press" to select volt / amp adjustment , new value will become active when press encoder again.
If press/hold 1 second instead of just a short press , adjustment will be INSTANT!

Yes, yours are a bit different .(Menu locked).

Shut down the PSU via encoder first . Don't remove A/C plug, and then restart by press-and-hold for 3 seconds . You'll see five digits screen. Adjust to 00088 and then press to enter . You are in service menu now .

REMEMBER TO RETURN TO THIS PAGE AND SELECT #5 TO SAVE YOUR ADJUSTMENTS .

In daily use , press-and-hole for ONE second when selecting V / A , the adjustment will be effective SIMULTANEOUSLY . Works like a normal bench power supply .
If just a short press instead , the adjustment will be effective till you press enter again .

If unlocked , we can enter factory menu by press-and-hold 3 seconds during NO OUTPUT stage . Its locked and we could via it to shut down psu only .
3, auto output at power up (not sure what that does either yet?)
Otherwise , amp LED displays OFF , and we have to press enter to resume output .
4, auto power up at MAIN on (not sure what that does? Again!)
Otherwise we have to press once to start the PSU.then .
5, a 3-stage charger; with adjustable

Hope this help .

I have the #3 (auto output at power up ) disabled , so I can re-assure V/A before delivering output to PL8.

How do I set the Over volts limit to 30v? When I enter that menu, I can only set a max value of 3.0 on both the volts and amps? :?

Oh . I remember now . It doesn't work BM's way .

It is to stop PSU , when the output voltage exceeds the prescribed value , by the extent being set here .

ZXD2400 has algorithms to compensate voltage drop under load . So don't set this value too low .

Well I now have heavy wiring, and an Anderson on the rear...

And a fan grill that lets some air flow through! The stock one all but stops air flow. So fans are reving, supply gets too warm. This one is adequate for fingers, but flows some air.

Edges of the cut out need tidying up with a file, and I have a lost fan screw, and a lost case screw! :argument

Those will be on the floor too. Along with a full set of 52 drill bits that are no longer in the case. All over! And I am driving in flux. :cussing

Evcerything you do from a wheelchair is an ordeal and a pain is the but. Of course the 11 anderson connector I needed in out of reach. The only tools on the flloor are the very ones I need. The grabber is in the same place and I ran over it all day.

Back together again and done...
Charger powered from the rear Anderson...

All you need here (not the multimeter) to charger anything. At 40A or less.

Nice work BM! My PL8 shows 29.35v unloaded when the PSU is set to 30v. Does my PSU need calibrating?

You could, but many voltmeters are not actually very accurate. Most are. But you need to know. So if you bother to go to the trouble then borrow a calibrated high end agilent, fluke or similar. Or use one to check your meter against. Those are accurate to under 2 mV.

Or get a cheap ebay chinese calibration tool: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AD584-High-Pre ... Sw5cNYfwo- reference. Turns out those are very accurate too. I have one and its spot on according to my calibrated fluke 289. To about 4 decimal places or better. I also calibrated my smaller cheaper fluke meter, and my other bench supplies the same way. I will do the shirley new one today. But its close anyway.

But unless you are using it for regular electronics stuff, or charging lithium directly, without a charger where accuracy is important, dont worry. Its close enough. For power supply use even the nearest volt is close enough.

IF you have a quality accurate voltmeter, and you know its accurate, then do it. Why not? Be sure your room is at a normal 20C, turn on volt meter, and power supply for 30 mins to stabilise before setting it or it may be wrong!

You got volt drop , whenever there were current flow , though its small as 0.2A .

PL8 isn't that accurate after all.

I may add that its almost spot on at 60V to 0.02V,
0.11V low at 30V as shown,
Perfect at 5V (to 4 decimals!)
and not very accurate at all below about 3...

Now, after calibrating today if I bother, it may be perfect at the set voltages, which may make it perfect everywhere. Or likely it may not!

And how accurate it will be under actual load, or under various frequencies we use, is another matter altogether!
My fancy 289 fluke can meaure all of this, inc peaks at its 100k frequency, or the 3 load frequencies of the pl8v2.

In other words, knowing the unloaded DC average voltage alone doesent tell us much.

Within 8mV worst case. 3mv balance. And mine are at least that accurate. And tracable by nist apparently. And yes only unloaded voltages can ever be accurate. Cables/connectors have resistance.

Fans.

If you add the stock black perforated sheet as intended, it reduses airflow by more than double. Or is that half? :cussing It also makes the fans run faster. Instantly since they cant get any air. But airflow is very restricted. It does quieten the thing though. Till it gets hotter!

It actually has more airflow with front fan stopped, and only the rear fan running without that dust filter. So... I have fitted my new free flow one, and added a resistor (speed reducing plug in one for a pc) to each fan. Now its quieter and has better air flow. Just in case you are sleeping next to it.

Not a clue, came out of a big box of unused computer parts. I think they came with a watercooler AIO unit with 2x 80mm fans years ago.

Easy to get on the bay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/5-X-PC-Cooler- ... 1638400565

Using now. Set to 14.7v 15A. When battery charging like that it actually goes to 14.8V so it increases voltage on load slightly. No problem as a power supply. But I reset the voltage to 14.6 to get 14.7 for charging.
