Hi,

This Taiwan company makes quality motors. They are used by Enjoycare, China and all wheelchair makers from India.

Here's another Taiwanese manufacturer whose motors are used on the X5.

Shihlin

They may not how ever make the motor/gearbox combo's that you require

And another supplier from the States.

Eugene Cherny is using Motion Tech units with brushless motors (48V for the adult chair, 24V for the pediatric). They have gear train release levers like on the AMT Schmid, but unlike those they use a worm gear so there is an efficiency loss. Straight rather than conical shaft, so a taper lock or similar is needed. Price is very reasonable. I hope that he will report back here with his experience with these.

One of the things I've heard of as a factor is that because of the increasing sales / demand for electric cars and similar things, the demand for the rare earth metals that get used for the magnets in many motors is going through the roof.... As is the norm when demand goes up, and supply is limited (there are only a few places that rare earths can be mined) the price goes up... Even the less exotic materials like copper are going up in cost...

I have seen investment advice that there is a lot of potential profit to be had by getting stocks of miners that produce 'battery metals' - Lithium, Manganese, Cobalt, Graphite, etc. and also those that make the metals like copper and the rare earths that are used in electric vehicles...

@ Burgerman: I will contact AMT and perhaps we can combine our order. Other forum members can join in as well.

Just reporting back. I contacted AMT motors from my government email (as we are considering special funding for the outfitting of dedicated power wheelchairs and/or conversion kits used in power soccer and power hockey) and I got a phone call in which they said that they do not want to supply the government / public administration or sports clubs. - So AMT is off my list!

Has anyone found a decent 4 pole motor yet that has the same or similar outer case size (ie. the same dimensions) as the AMT motors? I really need a pair of new motors with a 13 km/h gearbox for my current power chair...

You'd think they would be happy selling motors to us power chair users, and it'd be extra profit for AMT/any motor manufacturer! czy

When I contacted AMT a few months ago they sent me a drawing for a motor spec'd as I wanted, but when I told them I'd want only two they said - sorry, we are full up supplying our usual customers and can't interrupt things for such a small order. I wonder who they are selling to now that Quickee has gone to Lynix.

There are still a few big manufacturers such as amysystems using them. And a few smaller ones too. But as they manufacture to spec, you cant buy a ready to go one off the shelf. They are not geared up for consumers, just bulk manufacturing with specific gearing, shaft siuze/taper/parallel/ or winding, magnet type, etc.

@ Mind the Gap: Amazing! These guys took over the swiss "Micro Motor" company! Great find! Them being in Slowenia now instead of Switzerland should make their products much more affordable now.

Hi can anyone tell me if there are any manufactures who make none marking tyres size 15/6.00-6, they are the rear ones on kilmore’s chairs, in fact the white chair above is mine.
I’ve changed the front tyres to the grey none marking ones but can’t find any for the rear. Thanks

That is a common sized tyre, but was originally intended for turf use on mowing machines. I used it on my BM2 and BM3 chairs because it wears well, was tubeless, and large cross section and tough, puncture resistant carcass. Its is not available in grey. Its not a mobility size.

http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/ultimat ... rchair.htm
http://www.wheelchairdriver.com/Quickie ... e-f55s.htm

If you look closely bottom of page there are red, yellow, blue, and camo tyres available in the non tubeless, non puncture resistant off road tyres I used above. Or there was about 12 years ago when I built it. But those are 145/70 - 6 off road type tyres are lower quality, and wear out in a month on pavements. The coloured ones dont mark. Look silly...

Really? What you just changed your mind? That was a shame, £1k is a lot of money to foresake. I think his deposit has gone up to £2k now? Perhaps a result of you walking away :fencing (just joking!)

I just did not fee comfortable going ahead. He had trouble delivering a chair for another person for a chair that the guy paid in full on order for a year. He is a nice guy but needs some financial baking. Cant use your customers to finance your business.
