Will work.

IR is higher than mine , and you can't fit 16 of them . Only 2 reviews so far .

Enough room to fit a 2P9S pack into a G24 space . Any good ? cheers drunk2 :dance

Well, I'd like 16 of those cells or similar, but want to first find a metal box I can fit them in.(after box has been insulated) I can make fit.

i may also be interested in those cells or similar which have to fit in a group 24 size battery box with no modifications - that would give me 150ah ?

how would the connectors work - do they sell connectors etc, screws everything thats needed ?

As long as they fit in a group 24 battery box - i cant do modifications to that battery box area -

thanks -

It's hard to find a built-in box that fits our needs. The easiest way is asking a local shop who sells inox sheets (rolls?) do it for you. Mine is 1.5mm thick and costs $20 (material and labor). 1.5mm is already very sturdy and bulletproof :ak47

Well thats EXACTLY how I treat my battery every day. So thanks for that!

Seriously, its well known that unlike Laptop / tesla style LiCo, or LiPo hobby type batteries, which burn and explode, ours just dont.

LiFePO4 we use will only burn if you can heat them up with additional external heating like a flame, adequately enough to boil the oily electrolyte out of the cell. And give a source of ignition. Much like hot cooking oil. Thats actually safer than lead which produces hydrogen and oxygen and can blow up violently while spitting sulfuric acid in your face. Although the smoke smells pretty bad. Thats why we are using them. Before committing myself to them I made damned sure!

I have however accidentally had lipo batteries explode or flare up violently in hobby stuff for no apparent reason. Several times. Other than what seems like normal use. Dont trust those things one bit! There are just 2 in my house where I can see them. The rest are in an old fridge in my garage. And at my flying field we destroy old ones in a ritual with a nail before going home for fun. :clap

£1,213.90 for two, is anyone tempted? I will have to check to see if two will fit a Storm 4.

How did you get that price? :fencing

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/8Pcs-Lo ... autifyAB=0

£618 delivered for eight. And thats all you need.

The price of lithium continues to fall.
Thats for 100Ah. More than 2x the Ah you get from a pair of MK batteries, Which will only allow about half the 73Ah. Say 40 to 45Ah to be used at the high rates we use them. So price per usable Ah is already much less Because realistically thats the same as buying four MKs for range. That would cost £850!

And its better yet again, since these will last around 2000 cycles, or much better, instead of 500 at very best. Because if you only use the same range most days as before, they will give around 5000+ cycles, as you will only need to replace under 50 percent. Thats 10x more cycles. Or allow a charge every 2 or 3 days in winter.

I thought that vid made a strong case for LiFePO4 given the torture. You can look up youtube videos on lead acid batteries being abused and see more smoke fire etc. Which is a point you've been making for many years.

Would you need a special charger for these and would they(8) take up more room then 2 MK batteries?

They may be a tiny bit taller. But otherwise they will fit. You will need a pl8.

Theres a few terminal variations on MKs. In some chairs they specify the FT version (flat top, femake threaded connection) due to height restriction. On others, they have the type you had.

Common type, MK 74Ah FT gel:

Non FT version usually not supplied for powerchairs but solar/marine etc. Same exact battery otherwise. Although this is a 50Ah one:

These are EXACTLY the same internally/elecrtrically, 74Ah MK gel, sold as marine/RV batteries. Also fitted to chairs and used for solar. Marine terminals.

yes i figured that - mines were always with the Posts up high - not flat top so i am going with those specs - which means these are shorter - makes it a sure fit for me -

i am thinking of my new chair - which they may come with flat tops - i am not sure till i get it and check - all my other chairs all had posts on top like marine style etc,

so it should fit fine - thats why everyone has to check there battery space and cant compare from others -

Thanks

So I would need a charger for the PL8 and then these. So about £1,000 all told. Will wiring them up be easy?(for me that is)

You would need a PL8 and a power supply for the PL8. I would also very strongly advise you to measure the battery box in the wheelchair your going to use. You may also spend about £100 on cables, tools and bits and pieces.

I think they will be easier to wire up than loads of individual cells but you will have a bit of work to do and you will need to gain some knowledge and understanding.
