Heeeey!!
I am pretty sure I've read your posts over on the care cure forum. That's where I learned about MicrocynAH, googling in desperation for alternative bladder infection treatments. 26 years of sticking things in my bladder has developed some hard-core mutant, special ops Green Beret type bugs that laugh that antibiotics.
intermittent cath for 12 years, followed by a Foley for 9 years, and now a suprapubic since 2013.… Chronic infections became a major problem. I've been on more antibiotics than I can count and they were becoming less and less effective, On top of that docs were increasingly more reluctant to prescribe them and worst of all I felt they were destroying my health and my body. The FDA basically confirmed my suspicions when they released information in 2016 regarding some of the most common antibiotics. Just Google fluoroquinolones side effects or dangers. They no longer recommend prescribing drugs like Cipro for common infections such as sinuses and UTI etc. They can cause permanent central nervous system, muscle and tendon damage.
I spent 8 months straight in a rehab hospital in 2013 trying to diagnose the cause and fix a whole host of problems, blood pressure, heart rate, digestive, bowel, bladder, weight loss. Etc. they didn't diagnose or fix anything… Instead they gave me a pressure ulcer that went to the bone and caused a bone infection in my hip which required surgery and a massive dose of powerful IV antibiotics for 6 weeks, followed by more oral antibiotics for a month. They discharged me with a gaping hole in my hip and a diagnosis of dysautonomia… Which basically means the autonomic nervous system can no longer regulate itself (it also meant they had no clue). It has no known cause or cure. I came home expecting to die within a couple months. I was down to 112 pounds from around 160 – 170 at 6 feet tall. I dropped further to around 98 pounds after I got home… Since eating caused severe nausea, dangerously low blood pressure and whatever nutrients I was eating was going straight to trying to heal my hip.
I started doing my own research and trying alternative treatments. I get copies of my blood labs and
ysis every time they are done so I can read them with my own eyes. Many things were out of whack. I started going to naturopathic Dr. and eating better, and taking vitamins to help boost what was low. I'm now better than I have been in the past 7 or so years… Knock on wood!
One of the best things was the microcynah AH and being able to avoid antibiotics. I do the same, instill 25 to 30 cc into my bladder with a catheter tipped 60 mL syringe. I mix in about 5 mL of normal saline just to dilute it a little bit… My bladder spasmed with full strength. I leave it in for about 10 minutes and then just connect the leg bag and let it drain in .For me it doesn't fully cure a UTI, I still get a bad odour and some sediment, but as long as I use it every morning it keeps everything at bay probably 80% less than if I don't use it at all. I haven't taken an antibiotic in about 2 years as opposed to every 3 or 4 months in the previous 6 or 7 years.
I also buy it at a pet supply company. 16 ounce is $29 Canadian… Although there appears to be no 16 ounce bottles in stock anywhere is right now. I hope there's not some kind of shortage or something. I have had a few shipments ruined by freezing. They now put little heat packs in them and stickers all over them saying to avoid freezing. I haven't had any problems since.

- about 30cc of Microcyn AH instilled into my bladder every morning just after my first cath, and left in until the next one... (I use Cure Medical CS-14 closed system intermittent cath kits. After I drain doing the first cath, I just cut the collection bag off the cath tube, and instill 30cc with a syringe via the cut off end of the tube. I pull the cath out with the syringe still on it to keep from losing what I just put in, and then wait until the next time I cath....
)
Never had a UTI while I was using it. I've stopped a few times, and each time, within a few months I've ended up in the hospital w/ a NASTY UTI... I'm not planning to stop again....
I get my stuff from
https://store.ryanspet.com/ Ryan's Pet Supply - IIRC last batch was US$15 / bottle, for the 16oz / 500ml size - they have a price break and give free shipping if you over more than a certain amount - I usually get about 4 cases (24 bottles) at a time, which is about a year's worth.
Important note, is that you need to get it during reasonable weather season, as it is destroyed by freezing.
If one wants to believe the Microcyn people, they claim that they have a patented manufacturing process, which they USED to license to the Vetericyn people, so the products were the same. However a few years back Microcyn ended the license agreement, so the Vetericyn makers had to come up with a different process, with the result that the products are now different. Microcyn claims that their product is stable over its listed shelf life if stored properly, but that Vetericyn is not, so that they make it 'over-strength' initially and it then breaks down over time to be under-strength by the end of it's listed life....
Never had a pressure sore to use it on, but I have found it seems to speed healing of assorted other scrapes and cuts....

I’m lucky to have made it this long, with all the health issues and wear and tear 26 years of paralysis has on the body. As aggravating and frustrating as it gets, I’m not ready to kick off anytime soon! I’m with BM, I want to live forever.
For uti‘ s i started a crazy bladder flushing routine, most people will call mental, but it’s actually been working! I found it on a SCI forum. It’s a product called MicrocynAH... crazy part is that it’s a veterinarian product for animal hotspots and skin conditions.
lol Sounds crazy, but I was desperate enough try it and I haven’t been on wretched antibiotics in over a year. It’s also widely used for cleaning infected ulcers.
I also try to eat healthier. Had to cut out the booze because it started making me feel so awful. But I still use medicinal herbs now and then.
