Q'straint docking pin

Postby Lone Beagle » 18 May 2018, 12:42

I am trying to figure out how much ground clearance I will lose when a Q'straint docking pin is installed on a Permobil M5. I know there are variables but there must be a range or an average. Does anybody know?

Thanks,
John

It pretty much wrecks your ground clearance. I have one on my Arrow Storm and there’s maybe 1.5” of clearance from the bolt head to the ground. Mine catches rocks and high spots of ground all the time if I’m not very careful of where I’m driving. It’s super convenient for quick lockdowns in the vehicle though.

Not sure what the minimum distance the bolt has to stick down in order to engage the mechanism, I think it's about 3/4" but could be wrong. Then add to that whatever the mounting bracket takes off, and a bit for clearance between it and the lockdown...

Then there is the question of how tight you can get the people installing it to make the fit....

No matter what, just plan on feeling like you have a grappling hook hanging off the bottom of your chair everywhere you go....
