I also have seen some cushions that come in 'solid' or 'sling' base options, which can make a difference - basically the sling base has a shape with more stuff in the center to compensate for the 'sag' you get with a sling. I've always used the solid base models, even on the sling of my non-folding manual.
I'm told that the amount varies, but often is based on the more saggy folding chair slings... Supposedly if a sling seat cushion is used on a solid or tight sling base then it may bulge up to much in the middle and lead to pressure problems...
