Need help asap! Permobil m300 manual seat elevation?

Postby Arae83 » 14 Sep 2018, 20:09

I thought I understood that it's possible to manually raise & lower the seat. I am currently unable to lower my elevated seat & I need to bring it down so I can go down my ramp safely. I raised my chair after I transfered yesterday so my caretaker could help me put my shoes on. When I tried to lower it using the buttons I got an error message that said " ics seat lift error 20C3". I assumed I may need to reset something I tried the main circuit breaker but it didn't help. I now am trying to manually lower the seat but I am having a hard time finding instructions on how to do that. Any suggestions or advice on this issue?

Cannot help on the manually lowering ...I actually doubt that you can ...however here is the error code.

20C3 Seat lift Over current when operating function, might be overload.

And here is the official " fix "

Overcurrent is detected when the current to the actautor motor exceeds a predefined value a short time. This can be due that the actuator hits
the actuator hard end stop or any other hard stop. It could also be due to overload from the user weight or from that something is not moving as
easy as it should. - Find out where in the movement the over current occurs. - Check that the actuator do not move into a hard end stop. -
Check that the seat function can do a full movement as expected without user. - Replace actuator if no other reason for the overcurrent is
found.

There maybe a cranking point under your seat/cushion.

The crank referred to in the manual linked is included, in the tool bag, you should have gotten with your chair.
If you don't have it/can't find it, you can improvise-it is nothing more than a very long 5mm hex wrench.
You can make one by cutting off a 5mm hex key, and welding it to a piece of 5 or 6mm round, and bending the end into a crank.
Then use it as shown in the manual.
Hope this helps

Ok I got the seat cranked down. But now it won't drive very far until I hear a click & it seems like a trip causes me to not be able to drive more than a couple tire turns. Now what?

Arae you have also posted a pic of a burnt out connector ...is this connector on the same chair?

Also are there any error codes or flashing led's when the chair stops?

I suspect that you have a problem with a tilt sensor.

If you have the seat control switch panel, what are the lights there showing?
What color is lit on each function, after the chair stops?
That will point you toward the cause, if it is a seat function causing the drive inhibit.

Optionally, using a hex bit with extension and ratchet might be a more versatile option to making a specialised tool.

There are some modestly "extra long" driver sets that fit 3/8 drive available on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/METRIC-Extra-Lon ... B01DGVNU2Y

There should be places where one can find only the one driver bit needed, rather than having to buy the entire set.

Likely costs less and is not strictly dedicated to a single specialised purpose.

Suggestion. Its a capitalist country you life in. So buy full sets of these. And sell individually. If you dont make a profit, and its too much trouble packing 1 and shipping compared to a full set. you will understand why. After you try this, you will discover that a full set might sell for 10 dollars, and just 1 might require 8 dollars in order to break even... And you will have thousands of some sizes and non of the popular ones left...

If not then you will be rich!

The hex key required has to be at least 340mm, or 13 1/2" long-hence my suggestion to improvise.
Or, if time permits, it is available as a spare part.

OK. I haven't found any that were the right length. They're too short or too long. I had thought of pulling the base off a stock Xcelite driver and putting a longer piece into it and trimming to the right length, just to avoid the problems of welding but that's probably not as much fun.

I found super-ultra-mega-long 150mm L wrenches but they're suspiciously very low priced and likely too soft for serious use. Besides, much less fun than welding.

I meant 1500mm, not 150mm.
