Thanks

So from Revolectrix its:

1x Cellpro PowerLab 8 v2
1x FUIM3 USB Interface Module for 2-way data communication
3x Cellpro (JST PA) PowerLab 36" Extension Cable (1 to use. 2 spares?)
Just want to make sure I'm ordering everything needed in one go.

Then from somewhere else for a complete setup: a power supply, wires and stuff, and cells.

Thats the bare minimum you need to charge a lithium or lead chair, as long as you order some silicone cable and the correct safe connectors on ebay.

I just ordered a new PL8 and a few cables. Got 20% off :joint

@foghornleghorn:
- 3 or more charging cables
- 3 36inch-balance cables are enough but 5 are better
- 3 12inch-blance cables for future use
- 1 spare usb cable

Safe banana connectors are not everywhere available, even in RC stores. Are they crimped or soldered? And why are they better than classic ones? Classic bananas go quite deep into the charger and it is very difficult to get a short circuit. No?

In the subject of black friday, in this store now there is a 20% discount on everything and they have a lot of useful things for our purposes, including Powerlab and its accessories. And international delivery. Actually for me.

Do you cut the end off one of the 36" leads and use it as the balance cable from the cells? Then use another 36" lead to connect the balance cable to the PL8 (along with power leads).

Is that what you've done here?

Different prices Singapore VS USA? Any reason not to buy from Singapore? I'm in no hurry.

I always buy there. Since I am always stung by customs buying in the US, and not from Singapore. Your mileage may vary!

I ended up with dozens of cables, adapters for 6 and 8S hobby packs etc and 4 chargers and 4 fuim3 thingies, and could have saved a bomb on shipping if all done at once. Everything still works, no failures years on. Again these are designed for hobby use and the price is ridiculously cheap compared to accuracy, program-ability, capability for testing etc and your mileage may vary too.

I do know hobbyists that have killed them by connecting balance wires wrong though so be sure!

I have 6 years on my original TravelScoot LiFePO4 pack, Hyperion, homemade charging harness. In that time, I've had a bad wire at the connector on the scooter. I broke a single tiny wire on the ATX balance plug. Considering every time Scoot's deployed it must be assembled/broken down... that's a lot of handling. Charging has typically been every 4 days (4 stores shopping) or after anysingle 'special day' use. I've tried to be careful with my wiring... but that's a lot of handling.

I don't have a back up charging system so I'm taking this opportunity to do so. Of course, I'll buy spares, within reason.

I started working on my purchase on Black Friday:).

I just could not get it to go through. I called and their voice mail said they were out of the office until Monday for the holidays.

I called on Monday and they tried to do some magic to get things to work for me.

I tried again on Tuesday and still could not get things to work. I called back and they said no problem, we could work on in Wednesday.

All of this was done on my cell phone while we were travelling for the holidays. When we returned home last night, I found we had an internet outage that was partially resolved today. I went to the revolectrix site today (Wednesday) and was able to complete my transaction using the Black Friday discount code.

Looking forward to the lithium build project this winter!

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I've been trawling ebay and can't find any D or sub-D connectors the same as yours. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?

I got them from Farnell. Just be careful about checking their stock level before buying as some things can be a back order for months away.
