And not an easy find... so far there a few on British ebay for $150 Canadian Each. unless there’s other chair rims that are compatible I’ll have to make something fit.

As mentioned solid tires need to be 'squished' by the rims to work without spinning.

There is also a second factor that a lot of folks (including some of the parts vendors) don't get, and that is that the amount of foam they put in the tire to make it solid varies so that in the same nominal size, (and even the same brand of tire) a tire made for wider rims won't (easily) squish down enough to get the halves of a skinny rim together... Opposite a tire made for skinny rims won't get clamped tight enough if you try to use it on wide rims....

This can make for extra challenges when trying to swap tires between different chair brands / models.... banghead

You have the freedom that not many people have then.

These wheels are just $40 CAD a set.

Many sizes to offer. Most of all , they are tubeless , so much safer and last 5yrs easily .

What’s the overall width of your salsa with those wheels and tires?

Where do the wheels come from Shirley? What vendor? Is it something I can browse?

They are all aftermarket minibike or monkeybike, or x50 etc wheels.

There are hundreds of options. Some are solid one part tubeless. Many sizes. Mine came from shirley at a great price. Also available from minibike/monkeybike hop up suppliers. And eBay. At silly money. And places like aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?ca ... ke+wheel+8

NONE are bolt on. You will need to make an adapter. And thats not too hard. The easiest ones to fit with a diy adapter that look right on, are the 110 or 120/70 - 8 tubeless one part rims as I used. Narrower ones make things harder to make an adapter. So the rim is 3.5J x 8.

Zoom in to the wheel.
download/file.php?id=13847&mode=view

This is a 3.5J x 8 monkey bike rim. With a tubeless 120/70 - 8 tyre. Theres 2 good ones. Theres the DURO ones (best but not cheap) and the bridgstone - branded as heidenou or however its spelled as on the picture above. These are the best size for a chair as the rolling doameter is only a fraction larger, and the width is 120mm. That means a slightly wider chair. Mines 27.5. Make sure you can cope with that.

Ok. I better figure out if I even like the chair before I go ordering more stuff. Still working on getting seating sorted and comfortable enough to test out properly. Not en easy chair to modify, there’s a lot of oddly shaped moulded aluminum/alloy parts that Are proving difficult to adapt.

Nice looking wheels and tires though!

With 3.50-8 tyres , which are good enough , you can keep chair width within 26 inches.

Good enough? Mmmm Better but still a bit weak compared to the 120/70 and also trap mud and stones, and dont look as good! But they will work at a push.

That’s a problem, was trying to keep it within 26”. I’ll look once I get the bugs worked out. Might have to be 3.50

I’m ready to test fit and drive it but I need to reconfigure some seating controls in the software can’t find the right option I settings. I need to set it for tilt that each time i push the joystick forward it changes tilt direction. Right now I have to pull back to tilt back and push forward tilt it forward. I can invert them but don’t see the option I want.

Also I get an warning that my software is older than than the file on my chair when I connect it.

Can't be done in software.

Right now, its half way up. Or down. Doesent matter.
You decide to go out. So you want to lower it. How will the software know what you are thinking?

Really?? It’s been an option on every chair I’ve owned. Is there another way of doing it? The chair will be unusable otherwise. Once I’m fully tilted I don’t have the dexterity or strength manipulate the joystick much.

On my current chair and every previous chair Ive been able to set it so once I enter tilt mode I only have to push the joystick forward to tilt both directions. As long as I push it forward and hold it it keeps going one direction. once I let go and push forward again it reverses the tilt direction. I use tilt for pressure relief, I tilt all the way back for a few mins several times a day. But I have no hand function, just a floppy quad paw... and no tricep function so once tilted I’m only able to nudge the joystick forward. Sitting up and driving is no problem

You would need a sunrise version power module and joystick. They have assignable buttons on their firmware which would allow you to do it.

Otherwise it could be done with an external dpdt switch box and something like a piko button to operate.

That’s unfortunate. Guess I’ll just try it out as is and seen how it goes.seems like such a simple option to have in the software

Appreciate the info!

Is there an updated version of the software somewhere, that will get rid of my warning?

Do a screenshot.

These are

SUNRISE 6.3.0
and
GENERIC 6.2.0

BOTH are equally new. Both compiled within 2 days. Both same vversion of EXE file. And as new as there is. Note exe version and dates. The sunrise version has sunrise specific feilds that do not exist in the generic versions. And no doubt that permobil is vastly different. Since they use their own one off joysticks, stability/seating/gyro modules... Which is why permobil is the problem.

You dont have to. But its wise to. You can have different versions, or different manufacturers, and generic all at the same time but it gets confusing.

New software fixed my Outdated programmer error.

I was able to test the chair a bit today. Getting the seating dialed in a bit more. I ran into a weird new problem that wasn’t there before. I get a Cable error. PM Bad Cable (Code 7F00) switches to ISM Bad Cable (Code 7F00) if I activate seating mode. Everything still functions, but any resistance against the motors, like If I brace the chair against a wall and test the torque it instantly gives a PM Module Error and cuts all power.

The weirder part is if I connect the programming dongle the errors go away and I can spin the tires at will, when braced against a wall. No errors or cutting out. We did have wires unplugged to work on seating but everything is back in its original spot.

Unplug every cable, spray DeOxit into connector and sockets, and replug a couple of times. Power cables, brake cables, seating cables, all bus cables. Actuator cables. And try again.
