Car's horn on wheelchair & bluetouth driver

Postby salam321 » 24 Jul 2019, 09:35

Hi everbody

I wanna use this new horn on my wheelchair, it's a car's horn, 12 volts, but i dont know how, i already tried to fix it on the joystick replacing the old one but it didnt work, i guess not enough power in the componnents of the joystick, any way i hope you would help me to solve this situation and give me some other propositions
On the other hand, i d like to add this robotic bluetooth feature, the one that allows me drive my wheelchair using my phone.

Thanks

The chairs horn needs a tiny few mA to work.
A traditional car horn needs around 20A. And its in pulses. You will short out the controller and kill it if you are not extremely carefuul of lucky!

You can use a RELAY. The car horn must be a 24V one. And connected to a 20A or bigger relay, which is in turn connected to the chairs 24V system with a 20A fuse. And wires that can take the current. The relay can be safely switched by your controllers horn output - measure the DC voltage of this with a meter and get a suitable relay. https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product_list/298

Or any local car accessory shop.

The RC blutooth is available from woodyGB on this forum.

I find these good. Quite loud and simple to fit (no messing with electrics)
