Seems like it must be Brit given what side the chair is on - plus hard to tell but looks like a UK style plate....

The basic concept is what's called a "Chariot Rig" after it's resemblance to the old Roman Empire Chariots.... No idea who made that one, but it looked like it was a well done unit.

When I was just out of hospital and living in a rented flat in Islington there was a para at the local gym that had a proper wheelchair trike. Similar back-end ramp/gate to the 'deck' between the rear wheels which were shaft driven by a 500cc motor mounted just behind the front wheel. Steering was by a chain drive from front headset to the front of the 'deck'. Apparently built by a small UK firm doing one-off custom jobs to order. He was a bit of a hooligan in the way he drove it; which was the cause of his injury in the first place!

Most adapted bikes in the UK tend to be trikes, and big capacity like 750 or 1100cc etc. Theres a z1300 trike about 4 doors away. The one in the picture looks like a 100cc or 125cc and those are mostly india, asia, china, indonesia where small bikes are common for transport.

Its a little unusual to see small bikes in the US or in the UK at all, unless dirt bikes off road. Unless a 17 year old waiting to pass a test to get a real (bigger) bike. The reason is that bikes are not for cheap transport here. But are used mainly for fun, in summer months. Not for transport because of bad weather 8 months of the year. Big bikes are generally used alongside a car. Weekend fun and track days, or holidays etc.

The opposite is true elsewhere. In many places where its warm enough to use for cheap transport all year round small bikes are very common. So in south of france, italy, and most hotter 3rd world countries around the planet they are everywhere.

Especially the old honda 4 stroke 50cc "cub". Over 100 million sold! Thats without the 70 and 90cc versions... Makes car manufacturers envious.

Hmm, my son and his then g/f now wife rode respectively a Honda cbr1000 fireblade and a Yamaha ninja zx10, both around 1000cc, 12 months of the year except when it would have been suicidal to do so, including extensive UK & EU tours. They refused a car until circumstances (4y secondment to Oz + arrival of granddaughter) forced them into it...

Obvioulsly some die hards do that. But it wasnt a small bike. Those dont work in the UK other than in cities and towns. Out of town with wind, busy roads where you need power to do hills/wind and keep out of trouble with faster traffic and big trucks threatening to kill you. I had a load of big bikes, but even a 250cc single trail bike was a liability on busy winter roads.

Must admit I like the idea of a wheelchair trike for good weather fun. My wife would kill me though!

I was guessing UK based on the sidecar mounting.... The normal convention is to put the car on the 'passenger' side of the bike, so left side in the UK, and right side most of the rest of the world...

I suppose that there would be an argument for reversing this on a chariot rig so as to keep the 'driver' towards the center, but the few chariot setups I've seen here in the US all followed the standard US right side mounting convention...

For whatever it's worth - I also recall past discussion about the UK 'Nippi" trike, that seemed like it had a rather undersized engine....
