Power chir jack\lift.

Postby terry2 » 13 May 2020, 16:06

Now we can go out I'm looking at getting at lift for my chair.

I have found this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-M ... Sw0VZdW8Aa

The box underneath is steel, but it's in between the rear power steering and the motor at the front.
So I have to go in side ways. The one posted above is a bit to wide. I need 14 wide one

Anyone know of a simaler jack\lift?

Thanks

i use a reg. car jack lift but its smaller and low profile - i found that its hard to find one that is low enough to stick under our chairs - i know theres one that Magic Mobility uses and they sell - i cant seem to find it now - its a simple device - but i think its over priced - dont recall how much it was

i paid about $30 for mines - -

I use a low profile jack from harbor freight. About 3.25 inches at its lowest. You might also look at low profile motorcycle scissor jacks. About 3.5 inches high, and the wide ones range from 10" to 15" wide.

example similar to mine, only this big because it's also for our van.

Scissor jack example, comes in different widths and raising types. Some have manual handles, some use ratchets, some are ok with power drills etc

A paddock stand works really well if you can get it to fit on the anti tip and castors

Tried to use an old inner tube that was laying around. But it popped (rather violently) just as the chair was lifting off the ground. Maybe a piece of wood between the sharp edges of the chair and the tube will help. I'll be trying it again with a bigger tube. It will never get the chair up to working height but I think it will be enough to change tires. I keep thinking of the frame that Lenny built...it had a low profile if I remember.

Looks high. And heavy. What do you intend to use it for?

Yeah. 85mm seems a bit high for getting under most stock powerchairs. The lowest I've been able to find has been 73mm and that's still too high for my Puma 40.

It's for my Meyra Optimus 2 chair.
I haven't got my Puma 40s any more.

As it's a off roader, it has 6.5 inches of clearance.

It will go on the back with 1 rear and 1 front spare rim\tyre + electric air pump and bits.
So if I get a puncher I won't have to call out a pickup truck.

That's what I was thinking :problem:
It's way to big to fit on the back of my chair...

You don't lift the chair with that. Will fall over.

That makes more sense. I have a similar thing, made from a couple of bits of aluminium I bolted together. No wheels though. Not needed. The chair just moves slightly backwards.

You could make a very tidy one with a bit of tube, and 2 bits of angle iron. And a pair of walking stick ends. Far lighter and smaller than a car jack! And it can even be made so it extends, from a extending wheel brace.

https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/rac ... nch-323982 extends by half a meter. So you just need a bit of straight bar to make it longer, and to add a cross bit... But its steel so heavy. Best to use box alloy.

i have one just like that also - it works for changing tires - depends where you put it - - if right under the battery box from the rear - that can work for both rear tires off the ground - it worked on the bounder that way -

You must have missed the bit where I said that I'm making a wooden plank so the whole chair will raise :)

If you search back through the old posts, I made a chair lift out of an HF "High-lift motorcycle lift" - works best on chairs with a solid frame on the bottom, but with a bit of rigging can pick up just about any chair...
