We recently had a discusion about these. I am looking at the 4x4 version with a set of 31 inch tyres/rims for myself. Its the newer model Mercedes Sprinter, but not the van. Its availably fully trimmed as a people carrier, low roof, short wheelbase, auto DSG and easy to convert for drive from wheelchair use with only minimal work.

They are bigger than your pic makes them appear. The raised 4x4 ones are huge. You would park on top of most WAVs.

No it is not a sprinter. It is a Metris a NA version of the Vito.

Thats the converter company. I think. All the same shell, and all are turbo diesel here. With more or less boost, and auto available on 2 or 4 wheel drive.

And if you are correct and its a vito then the lowered floor is expensive. And less room inside? Hard to tell from that pic. Because while it appears smaller vitos look a lot different around here, or they used to!

Yes. No lowered floor, so could be short on headroom and no drive from wheelchair conversion though. Its just a lift and skirts to hide it. Maybe for taxi use? They may offer it if you call. Website lacking any info.

If you want a converted vito for drive from wheelchair they are available here in the UK by several companies. And the VW caravelle. The big advantage of the sprinter is that it doesent require a floor chop for drive from use at least only some minor trim work. So while its dearer to buy, its cheap to convert. Andcan be had in high trim, 4x4 etc too. Vito front drive only.

Obviously old models may be shown here as the sites need new pics. But theres many companies will do either vito, sprinter, or vw caravelle as a drive from wheelchair here. And with side lift if you prefer as I do.

Theres a good few more smaller companies too that will do it. Like bekker mobility etc. And the UK is small. one fifth the US population. So there must be plenty in US and Canada if you look around that can or do offer drive from vito/sprinter/vw eurovan I think you call it, etc.

I looked at the Sprinter van, the first version offered here in the states. It had enough head room without needing a lowered floor. The problem was that the fuse box is located under the drivers seat. If not for that it would have been popular with the wheelchair crowd. All you would need is a platform lift and your good to go.
Maybe the right side drive trucks have all the wiring under the left side?
