Looking for my first wheelchair . . .

Postby cymundy » 31 Jul 2017, 19:26

I am a 76 years old male, disabled for some years, progressively getting worse.
I can just manage to paddle around the house but more than that is extremely
painful and difficult as I run out of energy as well. For the last few days, I've
been considering a powered wheelchair to be able to go around Sherwood Pines
Forest Park which is just 6 - 8 miles up the road from me.

I like the look of that Australian made V6, but not the price. Second to that
is the Meyra Optimus2. But no dealers close to where I live - Nottinghamshire.

Any advice or recommendations would be very welcome.

Thanks for having me in this group.

Not that would be any better or cheaper, other than a scooter.

Further to my intro last week I have managed to buy a used Otto Bock B600.
It needs a few jobs doing, control box separated from the arm, seat position too far forward
and what makes it worse , its fitted with a Recaro seat which my chubby frame dont fit too well .
I will possibly fit new wheels & tyres sometime. But it is a good place to start and it will get me out and about.
