Hello

Postby SWalkusz » 06 Sep 2017, 11:34

Hello everyone,
I'm Steve primary carer for My Mother who has paralysis and has an assesment for a NHS funded Powered chair (12/10/2017) through AJM Healthcare. She is no more than 70kg. Having looked around with interest in anticipation as to what we can expect to acquire. I conclude that it may be they could provide a Karma Blazer (upgradeable to 6mph). A Kymco K-active may also be considered.

Considering I could service it for her, would we be better off taking a voucher and look at Invacare Kite, Puma 40 and Salsa R2. I am prepared to change out or upgrade parts with minor adaptions but nothing major. Which of the above mentioned would be the most cost efective route to acquire a chair with 4 pole 10Kph motor, 70Ah batteries and versatile programming.

Most chairs are available with various controllrers and motors. As to weather its worthwhile depends on your mum. But I would take the voucher. And look around, do a deal.

Thanks for your reply, My mother will depend on it for ventures in the great outdoors. I just know being stuck with a 4mph chair will be too limiting for her. So will be looking at getting something close to your base specs and wondered if the Kymco would be great place to start adding better specs at a later stage.

even a centre mounted footboard option, lol - Not sure about the controller, though? I reckon the voucher should be worth £2k + a nominal amount for self maintenance with any luck + seating option maybe over and above, fingers crossed. We could be looking at acquiring it all for only a £1k contribution, perfect. Cheers :)
