Hi all from east anglia uk

Postby Jayde1976 » 16 Jul 2020, 20:35

Hi all from east anglia in the UK,I am actually near norwich city. I found this forum from a friend who said this would be intreasting read as I want to make my own powerchair as currently I have a invacare tdx sp which is pretty modded already with a racing type seat played around with settings so its is pretty quick and turns fast as well as bigger batteries so I can get about 25 miles range and still get home with a bit of power, I am not in my chair all the time as I can walk but only a short distance at a time this was from a motor accident in 2004 and since I started using a powerchair they have been painted and seat changed to how I want it for comfort, my last chair was a quantum 610 which was ok if a bit slower but was reliable and had 3000 plus hours on it when i sold it, plus painted purple...
my tdx I have has a purple n black chair and is about to be painted purple and black (I got a theme as I like purple n black even my car is black with purple bits on it) I know so dont like MWD chairs but I quite like them but then i do mod the suspension and the settings to make it go on the dirt pathways near me. oh yeah maybe looking into fitting rnet joystick and controller to my tdx.
oh a bit more of me I am 43 female, and the biggest which might make some have comments I am transgender was male now female..
top pic my current tdx the other is my 610 the last pic me on the bus in my tdx. I think i did the pics correct but as time goes by I will learn them better..

Which batteries give you 25 miles range? Grp24 is max a tdx can take. Also, might aswell forget fitting rnet, completely different system.

that should of read 15 miles..
55amp batterys.
I was lead to beleive to fit rnet as a replacement for the dxshark one fitted atm..as well as rnet controller plus be easier to change settings.. failing that linx system.

Avoid the linx if possible - it is not field programmable. Conversion to Rnet is possible but means changing everything - joystick pod, power module, seating & lighting modules, wiring connectors. If you want to stick with dynamic, the DX2 is a better choice than linx as it is programmable, uses the same dynamic bus wires, and the 90 Amp power module has a boost current over 100 A (like the Rnet 120 for which 120 is also a short-time boost).

Yes easiest option for you is dx2 and for most that is as good as rnet if you don't want fancy controls etc.

Not sure why you've fitted 55ah batts, the tdx can fit mk 74ah.

Been to Bungay a few times, as I used to have a GF from there in the 90's. :) Post some pics of the F55 you acquired please as there was some dodgy built BM clones from a former powerchair dealer on here.

only pic i got atm as u see its basically a spares chair, frame been cut by front casters i assume to get the bearings out, but easily welded up again. i actually bought it cheap .. it actually charged up ok and all works except for a few blown bulbs which i fixed easily.. no wheels on it but i am sure i got some quantum 600 wheels which i think are the same shaft diameter, so my plan was pop the wheels on weld up the front bit with new bearings and see how it goes.. joystick is loose but it all works .. even it i cant repair it i can easily jus strip it for spares and sell on...

it actually all works surprisingly, well a few bulbs didnt but they do now, both motors are quiet and go forwards and backwards ok, even the batteries charged up and after a hour of the motors going flat out forwards with all the lights on it had only gone down 1 segment of the meter, just need to find some bearings for casters then i am gonna pop on some rear wheels i got which fit the axle then gonna see if motors are powerful.. tbh it might end up being broken up but it was mega cheap.
