Is there a rechargeable CR123 battery alternative?
I have a little keypad that uses two CR123 in series. its eating the batteries like there is no tomorrow. The batteries fit end to end.
Just had another google.

I thought those were all 12V. As in they are 4x lithium button cells as in a hearing aid in a single case. Could be wrong I dont think I have one here. So your device gets 24V! I must be wrong.

Does it say 3.6 or 3.7V or something on the side? Maybe 3V?

If so then you could use rechargable lithiums the same physical size.

3.3V

So any cells that will give 6V approx total, such as 2 lithium cells wiill work. As for physicaL size they are 33 x 17.

I will have a look later.

Cant find any. You will need to use a rechargable external pack. Like any 6 volt solution. Anything with 4 aaa metal hydride cells likethe tiny eneloops. Or 2x lithium cells that are probably less easy to charge in a tiny device.

Is it a computer keyboard or a music keyboard?

Its for an outdoor keypad. Its used with a device that can lock/unlock your door or by using your phone, NFC card or the internet.

"The keypad runs on 2 CR123a batteries and is guaranteed to run for up to 2 years." More like two months.

Let me guess. Its the ones in the reciever that have to turn the lock? They are nowhere near big enough.

If it is that one, you need an exernal battery holder like the one here. With 4x white eneloop cells in it. Sticky pads to the door or 2 small screws will hold it.

I found these.

All are rechargable.
These are what you search for.
RCR123A, 17345, 17340, 17335, and 16340

The first one is exact. The others are close and should fit. The actual cell size in mm is in the name. Search rechargable + size.

Thanks for the info and suggestions.
After talking to customer support at switchbot they came to the conclusion that because it was running the batteries down so fast on my keypad that there must be a technical problem with it.
They have now sent me a replacement keypad and all is well.
