Diesel exhaust fluid

Postby martin007 » 24 Dec 2023, 21:37

Recently I see more vehicles (cars and tractors) with two tanks.
One of them is that of diesel and another for a urea-based product.

Does it really have a real practical utility or is it just another way to produce expenses?
I don't have a car, but I would like to hear your opinion.

I know.
The question is whether these NOx are so persistent in the environment.

My Ford Tourneo Custom uses AdBlue, a 21 litre tank usually last about 6000 miles (about 9656km).

Personally I dont much care about noxides emmisions. The green nonsense, warming nonsense and the net zero stuff along with the way we are being taxed, guilt tripped and harrassed by eery rule, tax, etc has gone too far. Now I would buy anything polluting or smoky on purpose. Thats what all this overkill has done to me. And I am not alone.

NOx is not terribly persistent, but it is very reactive. By itself it is a strong irritant, but you're unlikely to be exposed to that level unless you like to breath the gas coming from a tail pipe. HOWEVER, by reacting with volatile organic compounds in the air it is a prime mover in the formation of smog. This is probably, by itself, not of much concern in Grimble, nor where I live, but in LA or Firenze (Florence, Italy), or New Delhi where there are frequent temperature inversions, and in many large cities with relatively stagnant air in the canyons called streets, it is terrible.

If I lived in london or other big cities where they now charge you a huge amount every day just to drive in the city. I would PAY the clean air charge. And then get my monies worth with a rich running turbo deisel on purpose for fun. In all the places the nutty protesters stand. You pay for it so why not.

Sick of it all.
