Only if you agree to their 2 stage security nonsense. You can disable it.

Go into Account, Sign in & security, 2 step verification, click edit.

Now , you have to ENABLE 2 step in order to DISABLE it. Go through the rigmarole of confirming mobile no & confirming email address, this will enable you to SET UP 2 step verification.

Come out of your Account, I just went to My ebay and then go back into Account, Sign in & security, 2 step verification. This time when you click edit, you will see the option to DISABLE 2 step verification, click on this & your home & dry.

Can you upload a screenshot of what appears to you?

My account only allows me to disable SMS verification by a verification with Ebay app or other code generating apparatus.

Your ability to turn off 2FA may be related to what country you are in, what type of device you are using and what type of ebay account you have.
I suspect they will want to force every account to have 2FA sooner or later.

I do like the way some web sites handle 2 factor authentication. One example is my U.S. credit union. The first time one logs in 2 factor authentication (as well as security questions etc.) is required and gives you the option of SMS, e-mail and perhaps others. It then asks you something like this "If this is a private connection, you can bypass 2FA from now on for this device and connection, but if you log in from another device 2FA will again be required. Do you want to skip 2FA for this device?". On the other hand, my Italian bank wants account number, pass code plus 2FA by app or SMS at every login AND AGAIN FOR MULTIPLE OPERATIONS such as sending a bank transfer, and credit card operations also require a separate password for as "verified by ..." site.

Even that doesent work if like me you are using a VPN. Which keeps changing your location and IP. It sees every login as a new device (practically every time).

Yep. I turn on a VPN for one thing only - the WordPerfect Universe site will not accept any Italian IP (the site moderators tried to fix this, but the fix doesn't stick more than a couple days). I then turn off the VPN.

I understand that 2FA is necessary on some occasions and websites.
I disagree with Ebay imposing a 2FA on me every time I access the account.
I also do not agree that Ebay does not inform me if the receipt of those SMS codes have a cost on my phone balance.

At least where I live you pay (or not depending on contract) for outgoing calls or sms. You never pay for incoming ones... That would be rediculous.

But you cant be charged for recieving SMS. Or someone that had free SMS in the contract like my ex could send you half a million SMS and bankrupt you on purpose. So logically that cant happen. You would be charged for spam too. That makes no sense.

Spain is a meaningless country.
