Cars and motorcycles don't attract my attention.
I think the reason is that I have never driven; I was born sick.

Perhaps you should take up wheelchair racing! Or something competitive.

I used to do motorcycle track days, as well as competitive drag racing in the "streetbike" class. With big angry bikes, fat tyres, turbos, nitrous injection and so much noise and harshness. It was fun. But running the same rediculously high power levels on the road was even more fun! But it was the competition I used to like with the racing.

Same reason people run, mountain climb, or many other things.

Now obviously cant do that loud angry crazy stuff. But I still have interests. For e.g photography. That is a great hobby that you can do from a chair. I am not particularly arty, but I like to document things. However I just bought a new lens that makes everything look like art! You could photograph a chair leg and it looks good. It has the extremely smooth blurred background and a very narrow depth of feild that is actually in focus. We discussed this before. But this is probably the sharpest lens nikon ever made. And at the same time the smoothest out of focus area that just makes everything look cool. Sort of looks like the subject stands out against the background.

So now I am playng with this lens.

Yes. But this isnt that lens! That needs a macro lens.

Is your lens only for distant photographs?

Depends on your definition of distance.

Many lenses have a 10cm to 1 meter close focus limit. But they also usually have a reduced focal lenth when focussed closer.

A typical macro lense allows 1 to 1 reproduction regardless of focal length or higher. That means the subject will fill the photograph if its the same size as the sensor. So something 24mm x 35mm (sensor size in a 35mm camera) with a 1:1 macro lens will fill the image.
