Incidentally the motor was only running to produce about 8 lbs of thrust - supposedly it could go up to 30, but the noise wasn't tolerable at that point. However it was enough to get the guy up to fast running speed in some of the tests...
This was actually just a spur of the moment thing - the main function was to do static testing of the board setup as part of an effort to create a "hoverboard" - who needs skate wheels....
