Batteries: AA's not wheelchair ones!

Postby scoped » 05 Feb 2013, 17:48

Hi,

So all the talk of how important charging is in regards to wheelchair batteries got me thinking about how we charge AA batteries.
I'm going to invest in some eneloop batteries for my flash (from what i see they have the best recycle time between flashes) So i want to keep them in good condition.
I was thinking it would be possible to charge them with my RC charger? (http://www.modelsport.co.uk/prolux-mini ... ucts/39979)
Would this be easy enough to do? or am i better off getting something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Technoline-Inte ... 63&sr=8-14 or would this be sufficient http://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Intel ... 263&sr=8-3

Thanks

Hobby chargers like the hyperion are the best way. They allow YOU to choose.

EG got a bunch at different states of charge? Then trickle charge at a low rate for a week. In series.
Got a matched set out of your camera or already in a pack? Then charge at around 1/2C until delta peak. The charger detects the point where voltage stops climbing, and the cells warm up. At this point the voltage starts to fall even at a cc charge. So the charger stops. You choose the milivolt levelthat this happens at, and the delay in minutes. and if any trickle charge level if any.

I tried to charge the 1.5V cell with the Hyperion but I could not find a setting.

1.2v NiCad or 1.2v Nickel Metal Hydride? 1 cell, charge at about 1/2C and choose 3mv delta peak and 1 mins delay, no trickle, 140 percent capacity time limit off.
