Unless you want to run it at full power you can use any smaller supply. The cheap ebay 480 watt 24v ones or even an old laptop charger can be used too! You dont need spend lots of money. Or a server supply like expresso or steve uses?

John,

In Italy too the thousands marker is the "." and the decimal marker is the ",". So the way those specs are written is not wrong, just different from anglo-saxon. Even more confusing for me to adjust too is dates being dd/mm/yy and I still have to think twice when I see something line 8/12/2010. Is that the 8th of December or the 12th of August?

Yes.
I actually have my dates configured on my pc as year/month/day. So today is 2018/04/15. Why? Because I name thousands of folders and photos by date and so the PC always adds the newest to the top...

Full stop makes that read to me 1.8 watts! But thinking about it its probably right as you say. Either way thats not cheap.

In expensive, but (I suppose) durable.
In Spain there is a saying that says: "Cheap is expensive".

By the way, a Burgerman question.

Is this variable power supply designed to work 12 hours (or more) in a row?

The last (new) charger that I bought only surpassed 30 months.
The charger cost 125€.
And also the charger voltage slowly damages the batteries.
A ruin.

Alternatives on Ebay?
I wait for suggestions.

They don't come much cheaper than this. Not sure how safe these things are from China.

Hello again.

First of all I apologize if I'm a bit heavy.
It is difficult to find a power supply 0-30v 0-40a.

How would this fit?

https://www.elv.de/schaltnetzteil-sps-9602.html

Thanks.

https://www.elv.de/schaltnetzteil-sps-9602.html + PoweLab + (12v 30 ah MK batteries) x 2

10A max. x 30v = 300 w
https://www.elv.de/schaltnetzteil-sps-9602.html = 900W

Should they work correctly?

Can I ask why go to such complicated solution just to charge two small lead batteries?

1- Because I will extend the life of the batteries.

2- Because Gel batteries are expensive.

3- Because the last battery chargers have not lasted anything.

4- Because with PowerLab I can load other types of batteries later.

5- Because PowerLab is an investment that will pay for itself.

6- Because life is a challenge.

7- Because without my powerchair (and her batteries) I am a dead man.

Fair enough!

How will you connect the batteries? Anything over 12A needs Anderson.

The recommended charge rate for MK is 30A per 100Ah. So about 1/3rd capacity.

So even if you charge at 50% of capacity, which will be fine, then you are only going to use 15A of the chargers 40A caapability. So a huge power supply isnt needed.

15A X 28v = 420 Watts, plus say 10% due to efficiency loss. So a 500 watt power supply is enough.

I will connect (Today) the batteries with an XLR connector.

OK.

Does your laboratory power supply (Digimes) have a cooling fan?

Is the fan running continuously?

It is thermostatic. Te harder it works the more the fan runs. But its a large fan so not loud. PL8 can be loud. I dont notice it.

In the end I think that the best option (for me) is: Manson SPS-9402

You wouldnt prefer a more compact, cheaper one, that is up to 3000 watts capable? Its 5 times more powerful, goes up to 60 volts, and to 50 Amps?

I suspect he will suggest the ones he, and now 3 of us just bought. Since its by far the best watt per dollar I ever saw. And built to last. 60V, 50A, digital control, and small, and well built. Theres thousands on ebay, and chinese sites. But these were already modded to be adjustable, and right price, new/old stock.

Mine was in bits, its built very heavy compact and well constructed. I also added a fancy case, but you need not bother unless you want a little project. I did! The case is a work of art. Requires a little soldering skill, and is a puzzle! But easy enough once you dive in. :fencing

Many pages, ake a look.
Stock. And, With fancy case... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7670

Images...
Did you ollow the link I keep posting?

Heres some more.

1. Its tiny, heavy, compact, and definitely no student engineering project. Its got quality components, 2 massive heat sinks, and these were about 5 times the cost of the one you were about to buy. Also 3000 watt capability, wide 0 to 60 volt range, 50 Amps instead of 20...

Note size. This is a stock one. Its old stock, brand new. Supplied by Shirley_hkg on this forum. Dont remember the exact cost, but someone will post!

And no thats not a giant coke can! This is tiny for 3kw.

Note that I also got a fancy case. You do not have to do this! Its the silver things on the right. It just looks pretty. Works great as it is.

Another picture. ONE button/knob/control. Push it to sellect or turn onn off. Turn it to increase Amps, or Volts. Push to select. Quite easy!
