Actual population is not relevant. You simply compare by percentages. Per population head. And its not just australia. When they removed the guns, the deaths dropped. A lot. And they STAYED dropped. ALL deaths. Inc suicides. Just as they do every place. People in the main, do not use other means to kill in place of guns, as the data shows. That bit of gun nut propaganda has well and truly been put to bed. You can keep on saying it, but its simply not true.
You're correct. Take away guns and there won't be any shootings. Take away cars and there won't be any vehicular manslaughter. Take away everybody's hands and there will be no more fist fights.
The big difference that you are missing (on purpose) is that we require cars and society has decided that with adequate controls the benefit outweighs the risk. Modern society isnt possible without planes, trains, and automobiles, and obviously we need hands. We do not need CIVILLIAN guns unless for legitimate work purposes or hunting rifles with adequte controls. As many (most safe civilised) countries have already shown. I understand why you want one. Me too! But if it means that the sort of people that I see on my travels can then also get one, legaly or otherwise, then thanks but no thanks. I would rather go without. And that is the problem.
