Yes they produce new land and thats how those islands were created. All of this planets surface is renewed, and replaced all the time. Thats why there are no craters visible here, as there is on the moon. But it happens over geological time scales, billions of years. When its happening right next to your house as in Guatemala, or Hawaii, or iceland a couple of years back, its a bit more noticible.
