Invacare Paint Matching

Postby ophir6 » 19 Sep 2018, 05:37

I just got a new Invacare Torque 3 and I ordered it in orange not having any real examples to look at, but I am pleasantly impressed with the color. It has a metallic glow to it, and it's exactly what I was hoping for. Now, I want this same color on other parts of my chair which are currently painted black, like my leg rests and maybe even the backrest supports on the sides. Unfortunately, I can't get any answers from my local DME supplier or the regional Invacare representative on how to find this exact color. I know you can get custom color matching spray cans of any standard "vehicle" color ever produced, but I'm at a loss on where to start finding what color I have. Any suggestions anyone?

Strangely the front casters, front tyres and wheels look old. As for the colour, call invacare as they make the thing. If they dont know go to a car paint specialist and they can match and mix it. If its metalic it will need primer, silver, colour, and laquer... Which will be 2 pack.

Good catch on the front casters, the chair came with much smaller front tires with included extension pieces attached on the frame which lined up the front wheels with the back wheels and made the overall wheelbase 6" longer. It did seem more stable, but I don't do any real dangerous maneuvers anymore so I'd rather have the maneuverability and the smoother ride so I transposed my old casters on instead and removed the extension pieces. I definitely need to clean these tires up so they look better!

Thanks for the paint tips, I was going to contact Invacare but the representative told me they would not help. I might try anyway. So for a car paint specialist, like a body shop, or is there a different kind of place I should look for?

Quick search shows that its called 116P Sunkissed Orange. It may be easy. Ask at a car body shop. They should point you in the right direction.

Also ignore dealers and reps! They talk as they warm up. Call invacare.

Why don't you invest in a spring load suspension instead ?

Your rubber pads work for nothing ..

I probably need to, however, I am out of the loop as far as knowing about options for aftermarket parts for this chair. Can you provide a link to what you are referring to?

I kind of put the painting project on hold, but this information was helpful. Thank you.

After further research the color that seems to be pretty close is listed as "Nissan Monarch Orange (EBB)" but I have not got to see it in person yet to compare.

there are alternatives to painting. Scratches are inevitable if you were stripping the parts off to paint or masking off, you could always try body wrap

i been waiting for a while to get some gold vinyl to try and wrap a pair of wheelchair wheels - i bought the vinyl, it hasn't arrived from hong kong yet
