John Deere Stuck!!

Postby Rye » 24 Sep 2018, 04:04

This is a video I took with my Phantom 4. For some reason it was downgraded to 360p, but was originally 4k. Anyways, it is of a rice harvest gone wrong. Set me back a week.

Been trying to get it out with no luck. It's going to have to be repair in the field and then removed with a little tractor help. My English-built Case probably won't do it this time. lol

Would it help to unhook the "tooling" from the PTO to get some weight off the front?

It would help a little to remove the header, but it's too low in the mud to get the trailer under it. Standby for a possible dozer rescue video later this evening...

What you need there is one of those fabled sky hooks. And a cheap block and tackle.

I've seen heavy equipment a lot more stuck than that, like they met quicksand. A good size, low ground pressure dozer should be able to yank that out, depending on the ground conditions. And then there's always a risk of another machine getting stuck banghead

Years from now geologists will find burried fossils of old farming tractors and harvesters in mass graves where there are a dozen or so that all drowned in a mud pool together. Like they do with dinos now. :fencing

If you are among the very wealthy, you could contact Evergreen helicopters (now Erickson air crane).

We got it free! It took a whole day. I know in the video it's hard to tell, but it's a huge machine even for a combine. Also, that track style just digs into the mud. The big D8 dozer eventually pulled it out though. Might take a bit for me to post the next video.

I didn't have great dozer rescue footage, but here's a montage I made of a new harvester that is cutting for me.
