Well I just flushed server cache, reloaded database, checked about 30 settings, all looking good here. But if I never see that error, so it cant really bethe site or web host, has to be some network thing?

Works fine here every time for me BM, so I guess it's some kind of cache issue somewhere. :?

Spend about 2 dollars a month on unlimited web hosting, and make 1 web page.
Upload all your vids, photos, and link everything to that 1 page with a description and info.

No big brother, no crappy degraded utube quality.
From 1 dollar a month upwards. No ads. Yours to use as you want.

I don't think this is the sensible way to go for expresso. All he wants is to go out in his chair filming some of his rides, then upload the recordings for people to view.

Despite their content restrictions on copyright material being a barrier to uploading a video where you have gone past music being played, overall adding videos to youtube is a far more user friendly experience than trying to DIY it on shared hosting.

If you think so. I find it far easier. Just upload the file from camera or desktop to the server with any free FTP program. They remember your host upload adress and password. So its just drag and drop!

And they dont get shrunk, lose quality, or get plastered with ads from google.

I'm going to sound like a paid youtube advert now but here goes...

Youtube upload is just as idiot proof as an FTP program - it has to be!

Quality is fine. HD available if that is what the uploader provided. They offer varying quality to the viewer to cope with their connection speed, or for example if you want to reduce the quality of what you are viewing as you have limited data available. Not everyone has 900 mile an hour unlimited data so a 200mb 3 minute video is wasted on them.

What is this thing called ads? :shifty:

Try uploading any film, or music, or anything that the little snowflakes dont like. You know, like the truth.

I will see how it goes - its true - I am not doing anything other just uploading my ride videos - nothing special - I just have to pay more attention to the videos I upload - if I see its flagged for music copy right etc, - I can either remove the audio and leave it or just delete -

it is easier with youtube for others to search or find or send to friends who want to see them etc, - I leave it alone for now - and see how the second time works out - cheers

YouTube's ContentID system flags massive amounts of stuff as copyright violations, but its mostly false positives. i'm sure thats why some of your videos like the one you wheeled through an outdoor concert got flagged. you are not alone. Youtube/Google wants to avoid copyright lawsuits in a big way. So their filters just flag any upload that MIGHT contain copyrighted material.

and this BS is going to get worse for those in the EU. The EU's new copyright law will explicitly make the platforms like Youtube etc liable for damages for any copyrighted their users upload to it.

Yes. But thats wrong. The government are making the likes of facebook, utube, twitter who are in fact just the blackboard, into the lawbreaker.

Thats exactly the same as making me responsible for what you type next. But I provide the medium, paper, for anyone to write on. If that utube uploader commits copyright crimes, or if the liberal/lefty progressives dont like what you say about muslims, for e.g. then that is YOUR crime (or thought crime!) and not my responsibility.

If the music companies or film/BBC etc dont like that you posted their stuff, if the gov dont like your thoughts, then it should be YOU they go after not the person or company providing a platform, blackboard, blank paper... They are turning the likes of ME or the little snowflakes at google or twitter into internet police. Not my job!

For example. You type something about either muslims, or say socialists. Do I delete the posts? Based on what. My opinion? Or the opinion I think others have. Or what?

Unfortunately, yes. I have my disagreements w/ Google's etc policies and practices at times, but their users who actually upload blatantly copyrighted works should be liable, not the platform. Yet here we are and Google had to institute draconian copyright filters to avoid liability. expresso got caught in the crossfire.

On another note, happy 15th birthday, Gmail. I remember when in went live and the beta kicked off. Invite only. I got my invite shortly after. At the time, other web mail services gave you like Yahoo and Hotmail gave you something like 25mb capacity for your entire inbox. Gmail gave you a whopping(at the time) 1GB inbox. Which was awesome then but seems quaint now.

Yes. But I still think uploading your personal data to a webmail service, since its not actually proper mail, that reads all your personal mail to better target you and sell your data is stupid. Plus they control you. For example, around half or more, since I cant tell, new registered users that try to sign up here never do. Why? Because instead if a real email they use gmail or other google mail services. And they filter the confirmation email out as spam. So I get dozens of emails in my personal inbox (real email) every week saying "I never recieved a confirmation, can you do anything to help?"...

Hi John, I could not find any other email address assigned to the registration - administrator, therefore I use this.
I registered with WheelchairDriver.com and I did not receive an activation email yet. Could please look at it? Thanks Alex

So as an email provider, its useless... You cant tell how much stuff is automatically removed and lost. Big brother (doesent) know best.

Most of that is Gmail's spam filter. Its 2019 and regardless of the email box, if I sign for a site etc and don't see the confirmation email in my inbox, first thing I do is check my spam folder, as a matter of coarse. Internet/email 101. And this RARELY happens now for me. Gmail(and other web mail services like Yahoo I presume) are "trainable." So if something gets false flagged as spam, find it in your spam folder, and mark it as legit. Gmail learns and those types of messages end up in the inbox as desired.

And this isn't exclusive to Gmail either. For example, people using Outlook or whatever to check their email often are running some sort of antivirus program. Lots of those scan your POP3 or IMAP mail as it comes in on your PC. Well, they suck at figuring out what is spam and what isn't.

At the end of the day its personal preference. I prefer Gmail. You obviously don't. Which is absolutely fine.

So do I. With outlook as my email client on my PC. And I can choose what it does or doesent flag. But in the case of big brother google it is removed before it ever sees your spam filter.
