Making The Cable
Hi!

First off let me say that this entry would not be possible without WoodyGB's help!

I wanted to make a programming cable just for my S-Drive controller, so with Woody's help, here it is. The middle photo shows the wiring diagram and parts information. The bottom photo shows the lead modification. The thick black wire under my thumb is from the FTDI USB converter cable that I purchased on ebay. I just cut the original 6-pin flat connector off the end of that cable and trimmed off all but the red, green, white and black wires. I slipped a piece of large heat-shrink tubing onto the cable, then soldered the components onto the wires as shown after cutting the ATX extender cable I bought on Amazon in half and using the female plug part. After testing it to be sure it worked, I slipped the heat-shrink tubing over the components and shrank it to protect everything.

The top photo shows the completed cable. The plug fits right into the programming socket on the S-Drive controller. I plug the USB connector into my laptop and use the PC Programmer software so I can modify the desired parameters to suit myself.... making the scooter more responsive, etc.

Thanks again to WoodyGB for his help! Hope this is of some help to someone

Check this website.....

http://support.pgdt.com/Remote-Service- ... mmers.aspx

Look for: "To download a free copy of Service Programmer software, please click here." and click on it. This should give you the latest PC Programmer software.

Seems you can buy 3 cables now. Wheelchair, Scooter, and a USB converter. At crazy prices.

The USB FTDI cable that I use/make ... will ...with the correct end / connector ... perform the same function as both those leads.

I have actually made one for myself that has 3 CONNECTORS on the one USB lead...this lead will program the S-drive and all the PGDT Mobility devices ..( post Pilot ) ...and will "talk" to the SOLO controller ...meaning that the mobility program recognises that it has a SOLO controller plugged in ... but then say's that your using the incorrect software .

NOTE :- The SOLO requires the Industrial PC Software for programming.

Additional Note:

For anyone who doesn't want to mess with home-made cables and PC software, I have a PGDT SP1a programmer tool for sale in the "Buy/Sell Mobility Equipment section of the Forums. It is very simple and easy to use, though doesn't reach as many of the controller's parameters as the PC software does.

NO parameters can be viewed or altered with the Service software.

Service software only allows the downloading or uploading of a set of parameters....
These files which have a .prg extension can be supplied by the manufacturer or created and ALTERED by the other software versions.

I have built a programming cable. Whilst using it my laptop slipped and pulled on the cable and it no longer works. I have checked the connections of the resister and diode etc and all looks OK but it does not connect with my controller. Can anyone tell me if I can test the cable without connecting to the controller?

Does the Prisma use an S-drive?

If so then the software you have should be fine.

Very interesting thread you have shared there. I get right on to it. May I ask at the bottom of the software I have got it says services. Is this the one I need or do I need another version as from reading different threads in the forum there is dealer oem and services in believe correct me if I'm wrong. Also as I don't no much about scooters do they give fault codes same way if I plugged in to a car to read it

Thanks in advance best regards

Service software is useless for you ...it only allows uploading or downloading of parameters ..you cannot see them or alter them.

In order.

Service , Dealer ,O.E.M & MAN ( Manufacturers ).

MAN is what you require... and yes the software will tell you of any errors.

Hi everyone I have the drive royale 4 with the s-drive 200 controller and wondered if this cable in first post would be able to program the s-drive controller and where can get the software to re program the controller to my needs?. I have searched all over the Web and come to this website. I cannot find the software to program the s-drive as it seems u ha e to register to attain the software and they as stated above in a post do checks .
