Male end ? doesnt the PL 8 have Male ends on the charger ? so the cable going in there is female end and male on the other end - which would connect to the Female end from the pack ?

On the PL8 the pins are male. The connector is female. The plug you attach goes into it. So it depends how you describe it! Is a USB socket on your laptop female? I would say it is.

But convention says you are wrong.

thats right - the PL 8 is Male - the balance cable itself is Female going in the Male PL 8 end - which leaves a male end free on the other end of the cable

So the short cable thats connected to the battery end - should have a Female end free - this way a 36 inch cable can be connected from the battery to the PL 8 simple

Right USB on computer is Female - what ever you stick in there is the Male

Well to me the PL8 has a hole. And you stick a connector in it. So the thing you stick in must be male!

Ok i see what you mean now - i see the pins sticking out of the PL 8 so i consider those pins males - and the cable has holes which is female :D

:D

i do prefer darker skin - dosnt mean always Black - what you consider to be FAT - i consider to be thick - something to hold on to - blonds are usually bimbos - and thin - if the thighs dont touch - what good is it haha -

they will break in two

i dont really prefer any over the other - - but thick is more like it - do you consider yourself FAT ? - maybe that FAT is not what i prefer - Curvy thick - yes - i am sure if you tried one - winter time - come on - you have to love it -

in the end i wont refuse either thin or thick or blond -

by the way - this 30ah pack i been using is working nicely - i charge at 8A for the 30ah - and 15A to 20A for the 105ah - depends how deep i drain it - lately only been around 20 to 25 miles a ride - before summer is over - will shoot for 50 miles to see - may not be able to do it - need alot of time

Me fat? YES! But that doesn't mean I am attracted to fat women! Luv it? No I would run away.

Saw two black women trying to fit in a small car at a rental place in texas years ago. They couldn't close the doors. That sticks in my mind. Because those types of women were not unusual but everywhere! They wouldn't fit in the UK.

run away at 15 mph - haha - what you consider FAT is not Fat for many others - i am not a fan of the so called Models where the bones are sticking out everywhere on there body and no shape what so ever - FLAT ASS - NO Tits nothing - just skin and bones - but to each there own -

thick is nice - in the middle - not fat nor skinny - just build for comfort not for speed

Worth pointing out that other than mating with an existing thing (like the connector on the PL-8) there is NO particular reason to need to use one connector over another as long as whatever you use is compatible in terms of wiring size, number of circuits, current handling specs, and so on...

If doing a lot of projects it can be useful to standardize on a small number of connector families just so that you only need to set up tooling for those parts, and can stock up on the components to have a supply on hand...

BM, I see your charging cable does not have a fuse. Is it not necessary or do you put it on the pack side?

It has a 40A fuse inside the sleeve. Wires soldered directly. But as long as you use fuses on the chair side of the charge cable, with SAFE type banana connectors you could skip the one in the lead.

Use a so called midi fuse. They are small. Solder wires directly, slide on heat shrink. Or just 15 mm of 40A fuse wire and heat shrink. If you think you cant fit it in.

I see the PL8's stock charge cable is too short (50cm?). I want to extend it to about 100cm. Could you recommend for me an 'easy' way to implement it.
http://www.store.revolectrix.com/Produc ... Stackable-

I am thinking about using "butt splice" connectors to extend the cables. Is it safe enough?

No need.Buy the same 4mm connectors. Buy a midi fuse. Buy a few meters of the same silicone cable -- all on ebay. No need to splice or bodge anything.

You WILL need to splice the balance wires. Make them all a different length, and just solder each and heat shrink.

Is it necessary to fit a fuse on the cable that connects between PL8 and the power supply?

Not really. The power supply should be short protected already. I have a 100A fuse in my van to protect from shorted wiring catching fire as I charge there regularly. Inc hobby stuff. But a cars battery can give 1000s of amps, a fuse is important there.

BM, do you have a pic that shows how a MIDI fuse is directly soldered on a wire? I just want to see how it looks before being wrapped into a heatshrink tube. These littelfuse MIDI fuses are still strange to me and people here. We still do know how to properly solder it to a wire. A pic will help us much.

No. But just fold the wire around the end, flux, solder. Very easy.

There is no more compact way. Its easy to hide it in the cable covering. A 40A fuse is good for 60 to 70A in reality so its never going to fail unless something drastic occurs! Even if it does, you can still change it in minutes.

Obviously you can use ring terminals if you want. Or a fuse holder. But the idea is to keep it super small in the loom. You could also skip the fuse completely, if you use the protected banana plugs with minimal risk.

The fuse would be easier to solder if it has barrels at 2 ends.

No harder. Nothing to fold wire over. Both are easy. Took longer to type this than to do it!

Fold cable copper end over, Squash flat to make it tight and flat so its one piece. . Solder it...
