No BM2 rebuild. But will do something similar for that. But invacare do a centre plate as special order so may do that. At silly £££

Have to add, DOMESTIC oven, thick or 2 coats, and set to 80C. Or the wrinkles don't... But once you use this stuff a few times you get how it works. Leaves a very hard to damage grippy black finish.

Nice one.
Finish looks well on the footplate.
Is it a heavy footplate John
What is it made of cast alloy.

My only real concerns with it are that its a little wider at the rear than my custom made ones are. It may limit how far back it will be able to go. Without changing to 8 inch casters which I would rather avoid. We will see.

Its strong, the holes allow water etc to drain and not puddle as it does on my flat plate ones. And the extra weight low down isnt a bad thing on a lithium chair as they need it.

Only problem with cast is that it can be brittle... I had several footplates on the swing-aways I use on the Jazzy shatter when I hit stuff... Looks like they were made from cast aluminum or something similar as it was non-ferrous.... replacement footplates made in AA welding shop out of tubing and steel plate, no more problems with bending or shattering....

The center plate on the Invacare I'm rebuilding is currently solid, but my plan is for it to spend some time on the CNC mill getting lightened by the addition of some judicious hole and slot patterns.... I'd think you could do something similar with your home built plates and a drill press.... Slots would be hard, but holes are easy, just make a template on the computer, (CAD package) print, tape to plate and center punch holes, then drill and countersink...

For a one off, it will probably take me longer to do it on the CNC between the time needed for programming, and doing the setup, but it will let me do more of a fancy design....

I dismantled two of them, worn out. I am building a green version with lithium, and 130/60-10 tyres/wheels. But lack time and a carer that can help right now.

Charge cable connected and testing. Just ONE connection. That black connector. One half stays on the chair, bolted under the seat. Other half stays on the charger. That connector has 9 balance wires, and 2 power wires. Safe for 40A charging.

It cant get any easier! The PL8 charger does a much better job of charging, with better control and information than a BMS. And the chairs controller does a better safer current and voltage control limiting than a BMS too. So non is required.

And apart from lasting a great many years, this battery is SAFE! Not all lithium batteries catch fire! These LiFePO4 cells are SAFER than your existing lead batteries.

Curious, does that one connector mean only one charger is needed? Or still two PL8s? I read through but didn't see anything that mentioned it. I read in other posts that you recommend two. I've been searching online for them, preparing for my possible lithium upgrade. I assume PL8 is PowerLabs 8? That's what I see here when searching.

The PL8 is a 8S charger. 8S is 24V. So one charger, one cable.

I buy here:

http://www.store.revolectrix.com/Produc ... Lab-8_2366

Its best to get a charger, a USB adapter, a 36 inch 8s extension, etc at the same time. Because of shipping.

Yes that sounds like it may be me murdering the server at max speed for 2 hours downloading backups. It shouldnt be someone else as its all load balanced / cloud etc. But I can use 100 percent for a long time.

Its on the newer carbon looking ones with bump controllers. But theres no pc software as of yet. And we dont know if its got all the lithium/lead charge choices, or has been safety nazi'd regarding voltages, cell balance levels, time limited on CV or total charge, etc etc.

Please tell me the Brand Name and model of the tubeless 6 ply radial tires being used on the green BM2 chair. Are there other brands with equal offerings? I haven’t been able to find the reference.
