For those that have computers that understand them, newest version http://sergeistrelec.ru/winpe-10-8-serg ... rsion.html

An invaluable tool. Rescued my own PC yesterday after deleting the hard disk driver. Why? Because I a an idiot. No boot, and no way to see the disk in a modern UEFI system. So well screwed... Even an install disk for win10 wouldnt help. Except for Sergei BOOT USB stick. I thoughtfully added that mass of drivers that steve linked to elsewhere here, and a macrium backup image, and a load of other stuff like the LTSC version of W10 etc. And a mountain of software. To the 256GB USB stick too.

So booted into strelecs disk, loaded the portable W10 operating system, installed the right driver from that HUGE pack, so we could see the missing C Drive! Whoohoo! Then restored a backup. Good to go!

It's a pain when that happens BM :cussing But the Strelec Win10PE and the driver pack are the two main tools everyone should have on a bootable USB stick/hard drive. I also include the install images of a fresh Win7/8.1/10 setup so I can set up a PC from scratch.

Newest version of Sergei's Win10PE... http://sergeistrelec.ru/winpe-10-8-serg ... rsion.html

I have 2 of these.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ultra- ... sb+sandisk

Write speed is crap. So select your files to fill it, and watch a movie... So what its tiny! And holds 256GB. Read speed is rock solid 130MB per sec or more continuously. Sustained write is 10x slower. 50 to 70MB per sec initially then slow.

One is always in my wallet, so its in the pub, freinds houses etc and ready to fix, install, rescue etc. Its got sergei boot, etc. And all the rescue tools, WinPE etc. Its also got those 17.5GB of drivers you linked to on it. Those work in PE too, so you can boot up, install EVERY driver the PC needs, get everything working. And so can use networks, wireless, etc. Its also got a huge suite of software and other tools. And of course about 5 versions of windows, inc the LTSC which is my go to favorite. All with serials, cracks, fixed EXE files etc. Why everyone isnt using LTSC that beats me. Its so cool, no crap! Just works.

The other is the same, except that I preloaded all the drivers for my laptop, and PC so they just work. And it is used for Macrium backups, of each. So once a week I have a full disk copy of each machine with all data, operating system. So if the house burns down, I can restore everything to 2 new computers in 20 mins all up to date and configured.

Now, where can I download the latest non cloud office? Mines getting old...

Just in time.

My 4 WEEK OLD 256GB mem stick just died. No computer sees it. It makes the right sound, then shows an unformattable unknown size drive. Amazon 1 day delivery replacement. New one here tomorrow morning! :cussing

These USB sticks seem OK for storing stuff on, used like a DVD. I.E. once. But dont much seem to like regular 130GB backup files writing and deleting. Been doing it daily for a week or so, and now its broke! Thats what killed the last one. Both Sandisk USB3.1

I have an USB 3.0 64GB Sandisk flash drive that I bought last year from WHSmiths seems ok. A majority of flash drives on Amazon and ebay are fake, my Brother has bought quite a few 8GB/16GB drives which were all fakes. They either corrupt themselves after writing 1-2GB or are very slowwww :cussing Luckily the USB 2.0 Kingston flash drives I have bought from ebay have been ok.

These were reading and writing at rated speeds, so dont think thats it. And were pretty full. Everything was working right. They just died.

Probably all the ones that get actually written/deleted a lot. I was using it for an automated boot drive backup on my laptop every night while I sleep. 100GB write daily. Its write speed is about 50 MB per sec but slows to 10. So slow but I am asleep so who cares.

Heres whatI have in my tiny 13.2 inch infinity edge laptop. 512GB of super fast NVMe M.2 PCIe drive C.

And
256GB Sandisk tiny USB3.1 bootable Strelec disk, with backups and all the strelec boot stuff, and 17GB of drivers, and a mountain of software. Also 24/7 as another drive since its so small you dont really see it.

And...
256GB fast micro SD card... Used as a storage plugged in permanantly as another disk. Read speed 150MB per sec, write 80MB continuously. As good as a hard disk.

They are on my sergei boot USB stick, along with tons of software, and a backup of driveC on my lapTop, and on my PC.
You actually dont need to update the USB boot, just copy the contents of the ISO file across this time.

Fortunately, you mostly get away with just copy or drag and drop the contents of the ISO in place of the old folders on the USB stick. So takes just minutes.

Unless you are using a mac. Then its about a month and you cant, and it wont work anyway because it will try and put it in its own layout, and add libraries and hide many of the files, reorganise things or "sync" a lot of stuff you dont want syncing or tell you you are not allowed, and will make copies all over your hard disk. And then it/you wont be able to see any of the stuff it needs if it even boots! :clap And it wont. Go on, ask me how I know!
