Almost. But I used a small dremmel cutting disk, a hand file, and a cordless drill for holes to do that. It took literally 20 mins. But I already had the case in bits as I was building the kit.

Learnt Will77 received his PSU's encoder bent. Want to impose better protection against DOA, with foam filler .

Would like to know if it is safe for electronics . czy

Expanding polyurethane foam. Messy stuff. Sticks like really good glue, sets like that white hard polestyrene pakaging. And exapands like crazy.

Put some into a box, not too much, put the power supply in a plastic bag. And then into the box. And it will protect it totally. But it will be hard to get out. Mybe put soe goam into 7 or 8 smaller bags around the power supply may be better.

I’ve thought of spraying that stuff in the gaps between cells and battery box to stop them moving about? (If cell pack is smaller than group 24).

If you are going to do that.
Then put layers of clingfilm or plastic in there first.
Then fill that with foam. Reason? you can get it in and out with out problems :D

Oh, I see!

I can see it being useful for packing. The box my last unit came in was all but destroyed. Fortunately the psu itself was unharmed.

The spray foam is reasonably safe for electronics as long as it is kept OFF of them by plastic bags, or sheets... If it gets on whatever you are packing it will all but NEVER come off...

(Make sure you protect anything in the area that you value, wear old trash-ready clothing, etc - be SURE to use eye-protection! For all intents and purposes, this stuff is 'forever' once it gets on something....)

The video claims a new 'reusable nozzle' but my past experience is that you should plan on using the entire can at one go.... It can be problematic to remove cured foam from the nozzle, and I have also often seen them stick on....

Some will say to use 'ESD-safe' anti-static bags, etc. but that is not a big issue on assembled products where the electronics are not exposed. If shipping boards or components then some sorts require ESD protection others don't... If not an expert the easiest rule is to use ESD protection if you can see the electronics... It will never heart to use it when not needed, but skipping it when needed is BAD...

The side with the Anderson has the posts for mounting the circuit board.

But by mounting the as Anderson shown, did you not have to grind (or drill out), the tapped hole bottom LH corner of side wall alu plate?

I am a bit baffled. Why are all you guys putting the anderson on the side with all the standoffs? I put mine on the plain side, there nothing in the way, no circuit board, no anything just space. :fencing

And why are all your power supplies built the opposite way around to mine? czy

Here's how's my first one looks. Not as nice as others here. My Anderson cutout turned out looking great at first. But it was just a bit undersized. So we used a hand file to expand it a bit to fit the Anderson. So not as nice as anymore. But not terrible either.

I am not certain as I haven't pulled mine apart to experiment and verify, but it appears that the supply can be assembled in several different ways if putting it in the fancy case, or rather the case can be assembled around the supply in different ways...

The two side panels are unique and will only bolt onto the heat-sinks and standoffs one way.... But the holes for the top and bottom are the same, so it is not at all obvious which end goes up when bolting them on....

The end plates and fan can also bolt on with either end up, although it is pretty obvious which way they need to go in order to match the handle and feet....

So the 'guts' of the supply can end up in the fancy case with either the same orientation as they did in the factory case, OR 'upside down'....

It shouldn't make any difference in how the unit operates, though I would be inclined to keep the orientation the same as factory in case there is some non-obvious subtlety like how the parts are supported....

However if keeping the factory orientation, then the wire bundle from the control board needs to be routed off the board on the opposite side than how the directions for installing the mod kit in the OEM case specify.

The other big difference that results is which side of the unit has the supports and such. It sounds to me like this is why some people are having problems adding the SB-50 in the back and others aren't....
