It may. And end in communist control of HK. And that is not good for anyone. Build a wall like berlin. Although that was built by communists to keep them in!

Great. Slow boat is perfect as I'm too busy with other things (including waiting for slow airplanes from HK & China) to take any time for it.

Lenny - When it arrives I need to remember how to modify the factory settings for a PL8. I think last time I set the output to 30V 45A max :eh:

50A max. 30V max.

I didnt do either. I just dont adjust volts above 30. Usually choose 28.2. And 50A. And leave it like that so I can charge lead, or drive the pl8.

TO ALL USERS OF ALUMINIUM OUTFIT :
:worship
Just found a major potential hazard.
Stock case model has a thin insulator on the case. The new aluminium fency outfit HAS NONE .

This one has the PFC coil in direct contact with the case. Due to rough transportation , insulation layer got scraped off. Over 410V electric arch across here.
5mm large spark jet out of PSU. House RCCB triggered. Very scary.

Open this side. Add a thin insulator between the PFC coil and the case.

Thanks, shirley. Would a couple layers of PET tape be enough?

I already did that, with some 2 inch wide tape. It looked a bit close.

The uninsulated aluminum case looked a bit sketchy to me as well when I was doing the conversion... Especially after I saw the insulation boards glued to the inside of the OEM steel case... (They looked to me like very thin fiberglass PC board material - I didn't measure but maybe 1mm? ) What I decided to do was take some dimension measurements to locate where the insulation was in the OEM case, and then use a razor knife to peel the insulation sheets off and transferred them to the corresponding places on the new aluminum case (hint- use the heat sink screw holes for measuring reference points) The sheets are held on w/ double-side tape, and if you peel carefully there will be enough adhesive left to hold them. If not, add more....

While PET or electrical tape as an alternative might work, I'd recommend something a bit more robust that won't ever wear through....

I moved ALL the sheets as I figure that the OEM put them in for a reason....

Obviously doesn't help those getting pre-done conversions, who have already tossed the OEM case, but for those getting new units...

Have any of you guys checked those power supplies for parts looking as though they may be reused? Or have you found any that are cracked, damaged at corners, have part numbers removed, or written over? The power supply is very low in cost compared to most on the market. Granted it is made in China, but so are most others on the market. There are people in this world taking electronics from garbage dumps, melting the parts off boards onto the sidewalk, and washing them to incorporate in new electronics. From what I’ve been able to read thus far it appears design drawings aren’t common to all power supplies you are buying, the process instructions aren’t being closely followed, or properly flowed to the supplier. The quality functions involved may not be paying attention or may not exist. Lenny has already broken off some wires he appeared to think were overly thin. The situation may cost one or more of you guys a battery pack.

They are telecomunication professional rack mounted fixed voltage power supplies that were produced in huge quantities and are very high quality. They are sold off for reasons nobody knows at a daft price in china. They are the real thing. Then...

Various companies or individuals or hackers recognised this and made various aftermarket kits to allow people to modify the things to be adjustable and programmable. A group of bright sparks. And yet more started making fancy cases that you can fit it all into. And all this is available seperately in china. All ingenuity. Allows a cheap fixed voltage supply, to be a 3 stage charger, or a fully adjustable bench power supply very cheaply. Theres also groups that are assembling these for the less bright or lazy, so you dont have to... So you can buy from shirley for e.g., Just the bare supply. Already modified to be adjustable. Or you can buy it already modded and fitted into the fancy case. I did mine myself.

:ak47 This is not an ad ; though I still have ONE with Alu case & Anderson for sale . cheers
Over counted by mistake from last group buy . drunk2

Lots of manufactures are selling these student PSU with high price tags, other than the Chinese .

https://www.wheelchairdriver.com/board/ ... t&start=30

ZXD2400 is made by Zhongxing Telecom Eng. , the second largest TE in China , next to Huawei .

Our party started as a diy project for freaks like me / John .

I spent £30 for my first 0-60V / 0-60A psu , together with a real 3-stages charger, adjustable for the very expensive £750 MK gel.

I'd be very upset , if I had bought that very inside spacious 40A psu above .

There is nothing to prevent any of us from getting a charger with counterfeit parts. Even in a top brand very expensive charger something may sneak through. I’m always grateful for the words of warning and insight I get from others. It saves me the cost of educating myself. I just wanted to share what I could with others. We pays our money and we takes our chances. This sight has enlightened me in many aspects of building power wheel chairs. I’m very happy it’s here.

On my first PSU that I installed in the fancy aluminum case, it was the other side of the case that I needed to open and add the insulator(I used a couple layers of PET tape) to the inside of the aluminum panel that's very close to those copper coils.

There's a couple ways the PSU can be installed in the fancy case. I'm sure that's why some of us who installed the Anderson connector have it on different sides. On mine, the Anderson is opposite the coils on the right side, if looking add it from the rear.

The site is very slow. You might need to turn off ad blockers and stuff for it to work. It may only track the parcel until its landed in the UK.
