Thanks I will consider that or even half and half - I suspect that the inner part of the original wheel may be made of steel - it has brake drums but admittedly only for a hand brake so they may be alloy and I've not taken the wheel off yet (I've only had it two days) If they are steel I'd use them for the hub and simply bolt to them but if they are alloy I will certainly look at a taper lock system

So the top speed was just a setting after all....glad you found it.

If I ever find better rims and a hub, I will take the brake pads off as I don't use them.

Yes it is just a case of setting the two inhibit settings to off Inhibits - Drive - profile 1 and 3
I'm not sure there is a need for a handbrake on a chair or scooter unless perhaps should you want to use it as an anchor for winching someone out of the mud in which case it would take strain off the motor brake - so I might leave mine in place as I intend using it on rambles with others.
Very happy with it now I've got the seat set up and the controls where I need them and everything working as it should.
Time for an adventure I think before changing the battery - just to get my range anxiety bak you know drunk2

Did you ever put the voltage and boost up on the motor?

Now that I can go out, I will up the boost a bite(Not that it needs it)

No - to be honest it is fast enough as it is - I never use the top speed because I'm mainly goingoff road and looking at things.
I've just been trying to sort out my seat tilt - it is showing a fault on the module and doesn't move so I think the module may be faulty. I thought at first that it was the motor because I could feel that things were not right under it but it turned out just to be a plastic cover that had fallen off. i need to figure out how to test the module.
I think if you want to do it that it is in the motor global settings set at output voltage 22v - I think changing that to 25 may do what you want - no doubt BM will be able to advise on that for you

If I owned this chair, the first thing I would do is to increase that motor voltage to the max allowable value. 11mph is fast but not fast enough, seriously.

I don't really see much difference between 10mph and 12mph or any situation where that might be a necessary thing to think about to be honest. If I need to cross a road safely then trying to jump across because I think I have 2mph difference is just not going to happen. The streets around me are crap so going faster is just a liability and when I'm off road then the speed doesn't come into play. I go places to see things - if I need to go somewhere quickly I take the chair in the car.
I'm much more interested in staying alive and staying safe than in racing my chair - just doesn't seem a worthwhile change even though I could do it in half a second

A 2mph gain from say a 4mph powerchair to a 6mph one is a big difference. Its a 50% increase.
Its actually 67% increase though! Because the MPH is approx. The chairs are really 6kph, and 10kph. And thats a 67% speed increase! So it really is a notable jump.

A 2mph gain from 10 to 12mph is just a 20% increase. So less noticible. But its for free so why not...

is it just a case of setting the motor voltage up to 25v?

If on lithium yes it will give a small increase. If on lead it depends what its set to. But as you drive the voltage sags to 24v at times so you wont get a huge gain. 24V to 25V is likely as good a figure as any. Check that forward speed it set to 100% obviously. And any speed inhibits are set to 100 or switched off.

Well I gave it a try with interesting results
It made no difference to the top speed at all but it did make a difference to the acceleration and deceleration to the point that when stopping at 10mph it tried to tip the chair over forwards - reduced the deceleration to compensate
Terry Take note!

Thanks.

I haven't messed with the settings as yet.

I was going to turn the volts up on the motor.
But I don't know what the safe volts are.

Loving the boost giving me constant speed up hills.
On a steep hill with a weekly load of shopping.
It only slows down by 0.01 mph :)

The Victron smart shunt is working great now it's dialled in.

I'm still trying to find a hub and pneumatic rims to match.

You may need to make your own hub - I did for my project chair so that I could mount a set of "Shirley wheels".... If you have access to a CNC mill it's pretty trivial, less so, but not bad with a manual mill or a lathe and a drill press... If you don't have the tool access you will need to find a shop to make them for you...

I used a tapered coupling to connect the hub I made to the motor shaft - slightly easier than making a keyway, and MUCH stronger / more reliable, but rather pricey...

I haven't got that kind of money :(

When the ATV bike shops re-open. I will try them.

Didn't realise Terry got the BM boot! Thought he had been quiet, but he cut his own throat by being a smartarse (not a bright one either!).

Agree BM, there was no need for his insulting behaviour towards people trying to help him. It's his loss at the end of the day.
